I found Yeungling to be incredibly underwhelming when it was finally available in Ohio, very overrated. Tonight I'm trying out Oskar Blues' "Dale's Pale Ale", pretty good stuff.

Over the old standby's mentioned here so far?

As an EDB it's light years over Anheuser Busch and related lagers and pills.

Really?

There is a place near here that has Delirium Tremens on tap.

It's my favorite wheat beer. It sucks that it's not sold in Michigan though. Fortunately, I live very close to Indiana.

I'm jealous! I have to drive 45 minutes one way just to get it in a bottle.

I've been drinking a lot of Bud Light Platinum lately. I find that it does what I need it to do in good time so it works for me. I'm not a beer snob so any of the other so called American "horse piss" beers do just fine. You're okay in my book Okie.

If this thread was about guns most of the posts would read "I like hi points and jennings mostly, but sometimes a Cobray is ok." Good grief, some of you haven't even tasted beer.

I love a rich, full bodied Trappist Ale. Beer/ale is not about "light" stuff so you can drink large quantities. Good brew is about slowly savoring the hard work to produce a hearty old world recipe.

Any wheat beer gives me the same headache. It's a shame because I really like them.

I traval a lot in central and south America (typing this while sitting in the crapper in Guatemala City ) every little country has a cerveza nacional. Here, it's Gallo...which isn't bad. Venezuela's is Polar, which is the worst beer on the planet, bar none. Okie...you at least need to branch out into some Mexican beers...XX Amber would be a good start and is easy to find.

We shoot 100 round value packs of WWB but we carry Speer Gold Dot +P.

There is the gourmet beer for occasions, and the daily maintenance beer to get us thru our dreary lives.

Not a beer drinker at all. There is a part of me that wishes I could enjoy a good brew from time to time.

favorite beer

Easily, the 13 year old Russian Imperial Stout my homebrew club made for National Homebrew day, 1999.

Just had one Saturday night. Probably have 12 left of the original 2 cases. Don't have them very often.

12% alcohol. Should be good for a number of years yet.

All the Best,
D. White

Hey Okie, if you want to try some different beers, that's great. But you should drink what suits you. If you try the specialty beers and then find that you like light lagers (basic American beer) there's nothing wrong with that at all.

I'm more concerned that you don't like coffee or mocha shakes but love menudo.

There are tons of great brews out there. If you have any beer shops, most let you build your own 6 packs to try. Definitely try various brands. For commercial brew Sam Adams has a great variety as well as Goose Island (especially 312). My personal favorites are Dog Fish and by far Yeungling. But those arent sold where I live only back home on the East Coast so I smuggle a five or so cases of each when I go back home to visit family.

If you think the beers you mentioned taste like piss, stay far away from darker brews like porter or stout and real far from a IPA. Try Sam Adams cherry wheat, its my dessert after many meals.

Okie Memorial Area

Celebrated Arbor Day by planting a redbud tree in my yard to celebrate my Oklahoma Heritage (Okla. State tree) and then I had myself what may be my first Trappist beer.

The first beer I ever drank, was a Rolling Rock 'Pony'.
In the last 20 years, when I want a beer after cutting grass and working in the yard, I reach for a Rolling Rock.
I don't know why. It just tastes good, to me.

With that said, I've consumed enough Budweiser to float an Iowa Class Battleship.
Schlitz. Grolsch. Heineken. Stroh's (worst headache in my life was after drinking 2 Stroh's!), Tuborg (sp???), Michelob, Fosters.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice tasting beer!!! Really good with a nice, juicy burger. (With cheese, lettuce, tomato, mustard and an egg on top!) Gooooooooood!!
