Holster help

I'm looking for a Kydex paddle holster for my officer sized STI. I like the idea of the Serpa and ALS but they don't seem to offer one specifically for the small 1911. I thought about maybe buying one or the other in a full size model and just cutting the end off with a dremel. Has anyone tried this before? I have not had the chance to actually hold either one in my hand to see if it's possible to do without hurting the lock.

The "lock" retains the weapon at the trigger guard. Your idea of
simply trimming the muzzle length should be sound.

Get the "slide" version or one in COO size. Adjustable tension vs ALS.

Actually I find the Fobus not all that bad for a LW sized Commander, CCO, or Officer. The offer it in different lengths.

I stoped by a local police equipment store last night on my way home and picked up a safariland als. Only had a few min to mess with it, so far I think this is the ticket. It didn't take long to get used to the lock and the draw is super smooth. Now lets see if I can trim it down without making it look ugly.

If you have a belt sander available ues that. A little at a time is the ticket.

Maybe it's just me..... but plastic guns get the plastic holsters. A nice steel 1911 gets leather.

Just finished trimming up the ALS, thought you guys might want to see how it turned out. I'm pretty happy with it.

I'd avoid the Sherpa like the plague. Comptac makes a nice paddle holster. People rag on the Fobus but I like it. Blade Tech is another good one too. Safariland is a nice choice if you need additional protection.

How did you end up shortening it?

Thanks, I used a small cutting wheel on a dremal. Then beveled the edges with sand paper. Used my calipers to measure and masking tape to cover the parts I wasn't cutting off.
