Any chipping away of the power of the feds is fine by me...

Now that the money will start rolling into these two states, other states will follow with its legalization..

Its a plant people, far far less harmful than alcohol or tobacco.

It's pretty meaningless at this point. They still have federal laws in place. It will have to go through some court challenges as well

It doesnt work that way.

A State making it legal doesnt change the fact that Federal law is still intact.

This is a good start, it's letting the states and feds know that people want it to be legal, they want to be able to smoke it without going to jail. This will hopefully get the ball rolling for other states to legalize it and to repeal the feds laws against it.

It won't matter if the state and or local governments don't fight to uphold the recognition of its legality. The feds will either be emboldened to or discouraged from flexing its superceding power by the fight in the dog of the state and local representatives. But all the while, the threat of federal crack downs will loom...forever. Additionally, there will be ebbs and flows in how liberal the laws will be.

Pretty much though, for the most part getting caught with small (and not so small) amounts of marijuana by local cops is not a big deal in most locales in California.

And no, I don't partake in any of it.

I am all for personal freedom as long as you are not hurting others, and I think this is a step in the right direction.

Tax it and make money off of it, And save a ton of money from all of the costs associated with the 'war on drugs'.

Good. Marijuana should be legal. I could look through the 24 years of police reports I've written and not find a single instance where someone who was high on weed fought with a deputy or beat his wife. People need to get the rods out of their butts and loosen up when it comes to weed. If we'd stop dealing with it, little would change, except that we'd be able to focus on meth, which is a drug that actually causes serious harm.

While you are correct based on what the federal law states, it seems that when everyone does it, the Feds tend to turn the other cheek as apposed to spending all of their resources on it.
