You like having money vaccumed out of your wallet? You do drive a car, right?

So you prefer $4 a gallon gas to 1.84.

You have a job? Check your paystub in January. Taxes...

If you have a job. Maybe you're part of the 17% unemployed. Congratulations, genius. Don't expect it change anytime soon.I'm sure that parroting "Its bush's fault" will be great comfort when you have to pay your bills.
I run my own business from my home. I'm the only employee and I do well enough that I don't mind paying more taxes. I'm a jewelry designer and probably have more gold in wire, sheet and casting grain form than most have in bars and coins so that will help in the worst case. A big part of my business is custom wedding rings so when my state passed gay marriage it was a boost in business for me. Manly hands, bigger rings, more precious metals, you get the picture. I make nice with the gay community and word gets around. I also deal in antiques. Mostly antique jewelry but my retirement plan is a safe full of items that will never decrease in value plus the fact that the older I get, the more I want to sit and work which means more money.

I also ride my bike everywhere and when I do take the car it's getting 38 MPG and the furthest I go is 20 min. away. The country would have to grind to a halt from $10 a gallon gas for me to feel the sting. Solar and wind power is going in next year to get us off the grid.

We also have a huge food garden. My girlfriend excels at low tec survival tactics a la the Mennonites who we've made good friends with and traded a lot of skills with. Those people make Mcgyver look like a spoiled teenage girl.

I've always been more ant than grasshopper. Pretty well insulated from it all up here and I'll be fine. Sorry to disappoint but after last night I'm sure you're used to it.

You on the other hand seem really worried about things. Hope your lifestyle isn't too dependent on things staying the same. Good luck with that.

Our candidate lost because he let the lying scumbag define him rather than the other way around. The conversation should not have been about the left/dems perception of what we are, but the facts of what the failed Obama administration is. The enumerated list of failure, lies and utopian nonsense that Zero was pedaling. If the election had been about him, he would have lost. It was Romney's job to make it that way, and he failed. He was too worried about offending, too into playing it safe and appeared to fail to stand for anything in opposition to an incumbent seriously needing opposition. Romney needed to step up and slug him in the jaw, state specifically why Zero is dangerous and hammer it till it became meme, legend and memorable.
Sounds like you know exactly what they need to do differently next time but you were sooooo positive that Romney was a shoe-in right up til the last day. Better luck in 2016. If the dems get froggy about gun control again (I think they're too smart for that) I'll be right there with you voting straight rep tickets again until the pendulum swings back. Failing that I have no use for them other than for entertainment value.

Don't blame me for naturally wanting to be independent. It's a hobby as much as a life style. Do you have a butter churn and dairy cows 3 miles away? Might want to shift your paradigm.

The takers outnumber the producers. It's simple.

Romney was a bad pick. No argument there. That's been my position for over a year.

Yep.

There was no good pick, considering the electorate wants Santa Claus ...

It doesn't matter who it was. We passed the tipping point in 2008, we just didn't realize it. Who doesn't realize it now?

You can't outpromise the Democrats. They invented it and are masters at it.

Sometimes, things really can go past the point of being fixed.

"Why YOU GUYs lost"

As long as people of the same country think of each others as "us" vs "them" and "we won" vs. "you lost", we really don't need an external enemy.

OBL is laughing his head off (I guess the remaining part, right side) in the bottom of the sea.

If the country has a bleak future, we ALL lose.

As long as "they" want "us" to pay for "them" it will be that way.

Critics of the U.S. political environment often don't realize that the country has ALWAYS been politically divided and it has ALWAYS been nasty. In fact, it has been nastier.

Politics is about defeating your enemy, not compromise, not bipartisanship. This go round, the socialist leeches won. Yes, they are the enemy.

Doc,

You're on the Gov't teet so you're one of takers not producers.

One are a fine example of why Obama won in 2008 and 2012.

But weren't you on the gov't teat while you savaged America's enemies as a super-SpecOps veteran of 26 single-handed combat assaults. Oh...and I forgot, you're a disabled vet, too. Remember your redacted DAV license plate?

No doubt you get a substantial VA pension and free treatment at the VA hospital for your many, many battle injuries. How are you any less on the "teet"...?

No; in short , new young voters do not want to work for a living or earn anything for themselves. Anything that requires effort is below them. The entitled generation wants everyone to hand them things on a silver platter.... don't worry. In a few generations there will be nobody left to take from then they can enjoy their squalor.

Well said.

The Left professes compassion and charity for others, yet their acts and words suggest derision and loathing for those who suffer under the burden of unemployment created by those on both sides of the aisle who "lead" us.

Anyone can see that insensitivity for themselves in Gunhaver's words quoted in full above.

We are indebted, and I am grateful to you, Gunhaver, for showing us all the true soul of the Left.

It is my hope that the example quoted above should motivate us all to never devolve to snickering at another human being's discomfort and/or suffering just because of our political differences.

We did not lose but America lost.
Neither do I want the GOP undermine my believes and turn more left as then they are the same as the Democrats and that will be the time when we really lost.

One day it will become apparent to more people that this whole feel good crap is the wrong way forward and I hope it won't be to late by then.

Obama won because he ran as Santa Claus.

With an ever-growing dependent class in America, it is nearly impossible to beat Santa Claus.

Not more complicated than that...really.

Have a little faith, man. We'll get through this.

We've endured worse although not recently and I believe that we can come outta this once the error of these "gimme summa theirs 'cause they have more than me" policies is realized. One way or another it will have to come to a stop.

Just remember M. Thatcher's words-

"The problem with Socialism is that eventually, you run out of other people's money."

It (money) is a finite resource. Sure we can always print more, but eventually we'll demonetize the currency and even then the Left will still be handing it out for use as toilet paper to both constituencies reduced to living in the woods and under highway overpasses. Rest assured, I don't wish to see it come to that, but it very well may have to before Americans realize that "free stuff" ain't.

That's 'cause Santa uses "slave labor". Those poor elves!

Of course, our wages are headed in that direction, too.

Take a look at some of the threads on the religious issues forum and see how ineffective the arguments from the religious conservatives are. Take a look at this forum and see how anyone is treated when they express a left leaning opinion on anything. Even the third party voters weren't convinced and they lined up with you Romney supporters on many issues.

As long as abortion is always murder, gays have an agenda to destroy the traditional family, women should have rape babies and planned parenthood (which is directly responsible for many of you not making child support payments) is the major drain of tax dollars in this country, black people are the main users of welfare, and your golden boy candidate honestly believes in talking salamanders, getting his own planet and magic holy underwear then very, very few new voters are going to take you seriously.

Think about it. Who do republicans rail against? Anyone that disagrees with them. That's a whole lot of people and that was just proven to you last night. Women, gays, minorities, atheists, libertarians, poor people, sick people... that's a whole lot of people. Romney flat out said that 47% of us were worthless. Who do democrats rail against? Republicans, the rich, people that think their bible should be a guide to the law. Not nearly so many people and the points they make against those people are so much better than anything your side is saying about your enemies.

When someone comes here, or to any forum where conservatives are the majority, and expresses an opinion that differs from your own the correct response is not, "Yer jist a damned liberal!" or, "You're looking for a free ride!"

You might want to consider dumping the religious insanity that so many of us are sick of and start making some damned sense. You could stick to the fiscal matters and relay that info to the fence sitters while dumping anyone from your party that opens his stupid mouth about gays or taxpayer funded birth control.

Or you could just run Rick Santorum in 2016 on the NO MORE PORN ticket, hope for the best in one hand and frothy mix in the other and see which one fills up first.
You voted for Romney, didn't you?
