The GOP’s Other Problem
Marriage Gap Huge In 2012—And Marriage Is Starting To Disappear
http://www.vdare.com/articles/the-go...iage-declining
"Well, you’re not supposed to say this in public, but the GOP traditionally gets most of its votes from people who more or less have their acts together, while the Democrats appeal most strongly to the various resentful fringes of society."

Marriage is declining in part due to men wising up.
Family court and divorce is a stacked deck. No guy in his right mind would risk his assets like that.

Life was so much simpler when I didn't have assets.
Oh, and I agree.

Bingo. Get the government out of marriage, and the institution will return to its former glory. Otherwise, screw it.

We have people staying home because of the Electoral College system. If it's obvious which way your state is going to go, there's no need to vote.

Unfortunately that thought process often keeps folks from voting in state and local elections where their vote could make a difference.

We don't wonder. We know. It's a classic case of projecting your own miserable existence onto all the successful people around you.

If being a +40yo SWM that lives with his Mom, has a "Command Post" in the basement and working part-time at Papa John's is successful, well........

And we have a Bingo.
A coworker of mine just got married after dating her guy for ten years. A small, in front of a judge ceremony with a total of nine people in attendance. I actually knew it was happening and her parents didn't (long story)
When I asked why he wanted to get married all the reasons were sorry...stupid.
Well in case one of us dies (they co-own a house)....I said get a will?
In case one of needs to pull the plug on the other (my paraphrasing)....I said get a POA?
Ironically, 5-6 reasons later the word love was never uttered.
As a married man of 21 years I can honestly say if my wife got smacked by a bus tomorrow I would never get married again..
Unless Jennifer Aniston is taking applications..

Yeah, let's see the lawyers & family court judges sort this out:
"Let’s say a lesbian woman is in a gay civil marriage, and she chooses to save time and money, or maybe she just wants to have some fun on the side (many “lesbians” actually do sleep with straight men from time to time), and gets pregnant in the cheap, conventional way — by *****. When pregnant she assures her partner that the child will be theirs, but neglects to tell the man she’s pregnant, or her partner how she got pregnant — let’s say she lied and said she used donor sperm. Later, she files for divorce and initiates a paternity suit against the biological father at the same time in an effort to kill two birds with one stone (deep-six the lesbian lover’s custody chances and get child support at the same time). In the meanwhile, the non-maternal partner had legally adopted the child. But the man never knew he had a kid, and after he’s hit with the paternity suit he gets involved and sues for visitation, arguing that he should have a right to see the child he didn’t know about. If you’re a judge, how do you settle this? Does the non-maternal lesbian pay child support and keep visitation rights, or does the father take on that role? What does the judge do about the adoption? Does the child have the right to a relationship with his biological father, or a non-related lesbian “father?” And keep in mind that this is simply one of many possible permutations of the custody problem that could arise in lesbian civil marriages."

Exactly. Marriage these days is a legal minefield. I learned my lesson from it and will never do it again.
