1991s with the huge ugly rollmark go for a good bit less than that in my book. Doesn't sound like a good deal.

Going rate for 1991 series 80 pistols is 550-600 bucks, depending on condition.

Okay, there are two 1991 models:
A. M1991 A1 - this is the el cheapo version that came out back in the late 1980s/early 1990s.
B. Current Series 80 models are called M1991.
The picture in the thread shows the B version. I can buy this exact model for $850 NIB.

Perhaps you should do a little studying on 1911's because many people, myself included, do not care for a series 80 with the firing pin block.
There are plenty of series 70's available so you need to figure out which you would prefer before you spend your money.

To put it gently
If you want a 1911 as a shooter you can do a lot better for that money.
If you want a "Colt" because it's a "Colt" that isn't the model to spend that money on.
