Wow!I've never bought a gun online before,but that sure would have me thinking.Yes I've looked at the Sigs and their not bad either.Thanks!

Of course the only problem I see with them is the lack of holster availability. I would go with the loaded if you want stainless. My personal suggestion, if you're going to spend $1000, mind as well fork out the extra few hundred and buy a stainless trp...

Ditto. And I'm a huge fan of SA 1911's. I own 5 of them, but just can't make myself like the Loaded model. To me, it goes straight from Mil-Spec to TRP.

This will be my first 1911.The Sig is way lower on my list,I do have a Sig P938 I like.I haven't found a TRP at any LGSs,and aren't they more like $1,400.00 or more?I've got to draw a line somewhere.

How much have you seen them for?Bac1023 has $1,400.00 for the average price on his buyers guide.

The lowest price that I found on a new SS TRP was $1447.
IMO it's worth every cent.

I saw a new TRP Operator (rail) this am and it was $1569.

You can probably find a used TRP in the neighborhood of $1200 and maybe less.

You're on the right track, asking questions and doing your homework. As I recall I bought a NIB S&W for my first 1911 because $1000 was my limit. It was enough for the bug to bite but I sold it after about six months. I was an absolute PEST to Bac. Thankfully he is a patient man.

If you really want to stay under a $1000 you should look at the Ruger. There's a new thread here with a link to a store that had at least 20 of them earlier today.

I love my loaded an I got it for under a grand an ima lefty also so it's awsome an it the tightest 1911 I've owned an ill take it over the colt, kimber, an Rimington I own they are really good 1911 s for the money

This was gone yesterday,and they want almost $1,500.00 for a TRP.Thank agin for all the replys.

Honestly, go with the loaded. It's a great first 1911 and you don't really need to do much to it. I have both the standard and the champion and I really like both. You're just going to have to really knuckle down and try to find one.

You may also think about the range officer as well.

As a Springfield fanboy and owner of a Milspec, EMP and two TRP's, I don't think that the Loaded is the best value in the Springfield line up. I owned a Loaded black stainless target and while it looked great, the trigger was heavy and the fitting was not the best.

You should be able to find a TRP for 1350-1400 if you want to save a little more money, it will definitely be worth it. Or take a step down to the Mil Spec and have an Ambi Safety installed. Don't be afraid to keep an eye out for a used TRP, you can find them in good condition at reasonable prices, and stainless versions always seem to be a little cheaper. Springfield's warranty is the best in the business.

Having both Springfield TRP and Sig, the Sig stainless rail is very nice and has excellent specs for a 1911 within your budget range. I'd suggest that you put one in your hand and give it a closer look. BTW-the magwell and grips were added to the Sig.

Thanks John,thats a real nice offer but I'm not sure what I want yet,and don't want to put you threw that much trouble until I do.One of my LGS has one (or did) for $900.00 but that seems to be a bit high after seeing what Bud's had it for.
