Most major christian holidays are rooted in older "conquered" peoples holidays. Most of these events are rooted in nature. Easter for example correlates to a time of rebirth, new beginning, etc. Its called Spring. Basically "'Sweet we survived another winter!" Of course Christianity had to tie this in somehow or the "savages" would have been annoyed at losing a regularly scheduled party.

So for me personally, I can respect celebrating that time of year...minus the zombie part.

Christmas is the same way. Evergreen trees have long been a symbol of life in an other wise dead time of year. I'm okay with the notion that " if that tree can survive this crap, then so can I". .But this whole killing first borns and then illegally sneaking into Egypt does not sound like a family oriented story.

Like previous others, I spend it with family and friends and exchange gifts. There is no religious significance attached -- no religious decor, no church service, no prayer, etc.

Sales at Best Buy -- the reason for the season.

Same with all the incest that had to happen, if we are really all descended from only two people.

That is some serious wishful thinking. As insane and contradictory as it is, I am certain JB believes every thing he posts.

I'm starting to wonder if JB is one of Molly's grandchildren.

Eh, I don't know about. I think you're giving JB too much credit. I think he truly believes everything he says, and can't think enough to actually learn to think for himself. Instead, he just regurgitates everything he hears.

But I commend you for learning to think for yourself.

If you consider yourself a true, diehard Christian, then I truly hope there isn't another like you.

There are plenty of other Christians on the RI forum. The question is: is there not at least one other Christian on this forum willing to jump on your bandwagon?

Do you fear god JB?

Ecclesiasties 8:12
John 9:31
Acts 10:2
and various other places.
You did not answer my question about whether you fear god JB. Do you reek with fear of god?

Sure there are. But why would they want to be associated with a stupid post like the one you open this thread with?

Yes, I do fear God.
My favorite Bible verse is Ecclesiastes 12:13

Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all.

So you reek with fear and project that fear and stench on others. Could you even conceive of doing right without your big bad boogeyman in the sky scaring the hell out of you? Too bad you are too devoid of decency to do right without having the boogeyman scaring the hell out of you.

Do you have pictures of Jesus or God around your house?

Maybe I'm just dragging you blasphemers out into the open so God can see for himself?

I'm sure he enjoys a good laugh.

So why do churches have idols if they're against the second commandment?
