Good mood just left town.

I've easily got 20k of .22 ammo, and a few thousand of each caliber of handgun I have. Why? Because I've been stocking up over the last 5 years and buying ammo when it was cheap and deep.

I starting "hoarding" guns and ammo when I left CA because I wanted everything I couldn't have there. I've got that now, and more.

Have a great gun carryin' Kenpo day

Probably for the last year or so I've been going to Walmart just about every Friday after work and buying a box or two of either 9mm...45...38spl....or 357 mag. NOW I am on the hunt for .380 ammo. Bought 2 one hundred round WWB boxes today. Yeah, I'm good to go.

I don't consider myself a hoarder....I was just prepared. It had nothing to do with the election or shootings. I guess I just like to "collect" ammo. My wife thinks there is something wrong with me.

You got to be kidding? Anybody who doesn't stash away ammo for times just like this are like people who complain about politicians but never vote.

Look at the bright side, ammo manufacturers are running wide open trying to keep up with the demand. That's the only positive thing BHO has done for the economy in four years.

I'm actually afraid to go to the range and blow off what little ammo I have. Thanks, *******s. And you know who you are. I was supposed to get 7.62x39 for Xmas. That is a frickin' joke now!

Ok, here's my take on it... When the ammo supply is high, and if I could ever afford to stock up on 10,000 rounds of each caliber, I would. I currently have 5-600 rounds of .45 that I accumulated over the past 3 years since I shoot mostly 9mm now. I have about 1500 rounds of 9mm, 2000x .40, 1500x 5.56, 2-300x .38sp, 200x .357mag, 1200x .22lr, 100x .380, and 50 or so 12ga.... I feel that overall those numbers are all extremely LOW. They are especially low in today's crazy ass crisis.

When ammo was plentiful, I almost never had any on hand other then a few boxes of SD loads. When I wanted to go to the range, I'd drive to Walmart and pick up a few hundred rounds of each caliber I felt like shooting that day. I blow thru 200-300 rounds an hour or better so having 1000 rounds stashed away, especially when ammo is scarce, is nothing!

Today I went to the range for the first time in 9 months and found myself rationing. I grabbed 4-30rd AR mags and 100 rounds of 9mm. In the good old days I'd shoot 3-5x that much! So I guess my question to you is; what do you consider hoarding?

"Hoarding" is the term that the stupid, lazy, and unprepared use to describe those who are the opposite of those things. Better to have and not need, than need and not have. I don't apologize to anyone for what I have.

The fact that I'm a hoarder meant that last night I could go to the range to shoot.

Over the last few years, I've been using the "dollar cost averaging" approach to ammo purchases. I'd watch the sales online, even when I didn't "need" any ammo. I bought here. I bought there. I did that regularly for a couple of years.

Now I have a stash which I can tap into during "hard times." If I didn't have my stash, I wouldn't be able to shoot AT ALL right now.

The reason there is a dearth of ammo available right now has NOTHING to do with my purchases over the last couple of years. There is a RUN on ammo now. The cool thing, is I don't have to run.

Ammo ain't been "cheap" for several years now. I remember before 08' buying .308 battle packs for less than 20 cents a round, those were the good old days now to me anyway.

I have more .22 than I will shoot in my lifetime but possibly not in my sons, he knows he is lucky!

You folks complaining now I guess forgot about the run in 08' and people here saying don't get caught with your **** in your hand again, guess you did not learn. I have a problem saying sorry.

In another month people are gonna be upset cause they only have 2 magazines that hold more than 10 rounds for their semi-auto's all cause they figured they could buy more anytime. Sorry if you were not around from 1994-2004 but if you are on this site at all you should have been prepared.

Snooze you loose. If you weren't prepared for the day when ammo becomes (became) scarce that's your own deficiency. Am I a hoarder? Some people probably think so. I just think i'm prepared.

I admit that surprised me, too. I'm glad I bought as much as I did... but, I wish I had bought more. I can't find .22LR anywhere!

I like to shoot and it's cheap. Between the 10/22, M&P 15-22, 22/45, and a Ceiner AR conversion a guy can go through a lot. With .223 now selling at over 75 cents plus a round can you blame me? Will shoot different calibers when the price comes down, for now lots of .22 plinking.

I've got enough ammo for about 7-8 more trips to the range. That's normally a decent supply for me, but not in these times.

I just checked my usual online ammo sites and they are either completely sold out or jacking the prices into insanity. Right now Natchez has 115 gr FMJ 9mm Remington range ammo for $40 for a box of 50. WHAT?!?!

Any of you hoarders looking to turn your stash into cash?

Hoarding is the best way to force manufacturers to increase production. That is a good thing.

What exactly constitutes a 'hoard"? Does it vary by locale or social status? Or, perhaps by economic ability, inner city v. rural, or how it is reported by the press?

I think that if you want it but don't have it (or don't have as much as you want)...and somebody else DOES have it...it's hoarding. Gotta shift the blame to others.

Local Wally World has mostly empty shelves. There are 14 Wally Worlds in El Paso, haven't checked the others.

Local rod and gun club is a bit more expensive, but their shelves are loaded with everything. Academy Sports is also well stocked.

I'm sure I would be considered a " hoarder" by some. I have 50k plus just of .22. Lost count of the rest. That being said, I have not prevented any one from ever buying ammo. I don't buy in times like this..... I bought years ago when it was affordable.

Don't have a lot of money? Get creative. When I was in high school I liked to shoot, but didnt have money. I worked a deal with a local shop owner to clear a couple of acres of his land and cut, split and stacked the wood for him. What did I get for this? A pallet of .22.
