Prize pistol deliveries
Just curious on the current lead-time on prize pistols.
I am not complaining, just asking for other members to let me know if they just got their guns and how long they waited.
Thanks

Sent in mid august for a G30SF and a Gen 3 G34. 30 came in mid october. Still waiting on the 34. Sent one in last week for a 19. Will be interesting to see which one comes first.

GSSF will tell you the wait is 5 months, and don't call asking about it before then. That's about how long it's been for my Gen4 G20 so I'll probably call this week.

Keep us posted, I'm still waiting for a Gen 4 21. They received my paperwork August 13th and it posted to my CC on August 20th. We're at 21 weeks now, I won't bother them though, it gets here when it gets here. Although, I am eager to shoot the 45 in heavy metal, I hate leaving 10mm brass on the ground.

It would be my opinion that you may have an additional 3 month wait. Perhaps they charge CC customers early-on because the sale/order can be processed immediately and a CC credit easily given if necessary. That wouldn't be the case with personal checks.
Calling Donna right now to check on my Gen4 G20 order of 5 months ago.

Just got off the phone with GSSF. Donna's at lunch I suppose, but Mark Ramsey answered and we had a nice chat. However, he told me to send an e-mail (gssf@glock.us) and I'd have an answer by tomorrow. (But don't e-mail for at least 12 weeks after cert submission.)
My G20 order was received by GSSF on 7/24/12. I'm not in that much of a hurry as I'll just have to buy yet another caliber conversion for my 650 when it arrives.

What do you want a G20 for? 10mm done right is loud and kicks. 10mm downloaded may as well be a G22. Are you going to shoot GSSF with it?

I sent my cert for a Gen3 G34 in late September. CC was charged a few business days after they received it and my FFL received the G34 just about 2 weeks after that, so less than 3 weeks wait. I think I lucked out and they happened to have one in-stock at the time. Even my FFL commented that it was the fastest turnaround he'd ever witnessed.

I used my G20C for deer a few years ago with good success.
Last year I was able to find a non-ported barrel for it and used it in GSSF heavy metal. Downloaded, with a 150 gr. bullet it felt great (still loud). Downside is leaving 10mm brass on the ground, so if the 21 comes soon, I'll be able to come up with a load for it as well and see which does better for me. Maybe I'll be able to beat Bryan and Dennis (I don't think Butch shoots Heavy Metal).

It will be one of two Glocks out of a dozen I own that won't be set up for competition. I've got this crazy idea that I'm going to hunt wild hogs. I've only ever hunted larger game (deer) with a bow and never a firearm, but wild hogs apparently have no closed season and no limit in FL - they're pests.
I'm also moving closer to the Everglades where Burmese pythons are invasive nonnative pests. Two days ago, Florida announced the 2013 Python Challenge - $1500 for the most pythons harvested and $1000 for the biggest harvested throughout the year.
I already have Glock's 6" hunting barrel to drop into the 20.
Possible correction: The Challenge may only be one month long. Still researching.

I've heard of hunting small to medium game with handguns such as the G20...but it seems like a bit of a canon for snake harvesting. Wouldn't your G34 race gun work just fine?...assuming you were the one shooting it, of course.

Dunno... if I shoot it... of course!
Actually, I was sitting bored in my gun club's board meeting earlier tonight and there was a gun magazine on the table. I thumbed through it and there was an article by Mas about carrying extra ammo for various situations - not just SD. In one instance in the article he related (as I remember) taking 6 shots (with one miss) to dispatch a large snake.
These nonnative pythons can reach 17' long and have thick bodies. They aparently move slowly so I suppose one well-placed head shot would do it - or 6 or 8 shots with misses - kinda like GSSF plates.

Received an e-mail answer from GSSF regarding my Gen4 G20 order. The e-mail...
"The G20 Gen 4 has not shipped yet.
GLOCK, Inc is still quoting us 150-180 on all shipments, so it should be going out soon.
Jessica Clower

So... if your ordered gun hasn't been received in 5 months... give it 6 months.

I'm familiar with pythons and other snakes. AFAIK, they're mostly thin skin and lots of muscle...so I suspect if you were to shoot one and hit nothing vital, it could take a whole bunch of shots and not die. If they allow it, I'd think a 10/22 with a scope would be sufficient for dispatching pythons. If not, next choice would be an AR with scope or red dot...but .223 also seems overkill. I guess it depends on the distances involved. Would you be walking right up on them, or seeing them from a bit of a distance and taking them out from yards away?
