Good job! I'm happy for you, and you've done great to include medical. I would do something different with the knife, shears, and forceps. What matters is whether it works for you, not me. The more you practice in it, you'll see that it's just right or you'll know what changes to make for it to be right.

Where did you purchase that carrier from?
The one I purchased a while back had misleading reviews, and doesn't fit properly.

Being the smoker you are and the age you are at. I doubt you will get 2 miles before you collapse with that loadout. It's a good thought and nice set up.

really...you've got to be kidding me.
If overweight airforce cats can hump it 8+ miles with a full loadout and ruck while at training for deployment to Afghanistan, this guy will be JUST FINE with his vest.

Maybe you should familiarize yourself with the Dangerous Old Men in our country.
I'd rather have them on my side than MANY others.

How much do the plates and carrier weigh?
I have a Class II setup that weighs just under 5.5 lb. The weight is not a problem for me although it gets really hot to wear in the summer. I do look more than a bit fat wearing it .

Is your knife broken? The tip should be protected when stored. It doesn't look safe.
What's in the pouches?
What's the purpose of this loadout?
Can't tell if it's worth a damn without knowing the goal(s).

Here is a true story of one such ..."Dangerous Old Man"...
..a "must read" for those who doubt the potential power of a single motivated 'seasoned citizen'!
Keep in mind....57 years old was old age back in the 1860's

Quote:

The true story of one man's reluctant but relentless war against the invaders of his country. A quiet, wealthy plantation owner, Jack Hinson watched the start of the Civil War with disinterest. Opposed to secession and a friend to Union and Confederate commanders alike, he did not want a war. After Union soldiers seized and murdered his sons, placing their decapitated heads on the gateposts of his estate, Hinson could remain indifferent no longer. He commissioned a special rifle for long-range accuracy, he took to the woods, and he set out for revenge. This remarkable biography presents the story of Jack Hinson, a lone Confederate sniper who, at the age of 57, waged a personal war on Grant's army and navy. The result of 15 years of scholarship, this meticulously researched and beautifully written work is the only account of Hinson's life ever recorded and involves an unbelievable cast of characters, including the Earp brothers, Jesse James, and Nathan Bedford Forrest.

Nice setup but you get style points deducted for not color matching everything.

Short of "bugging out" to Afghanistan... I just don't see why body armor is needed for preparedness. Am I wrong?

Home defense? I'd ditch the surgical tools and put something more useful in their place. But thats just me. I mean...if its home defense, you're at your house. You do have a medical kit at your house, right?

You might not in the part of your house that has the med kit when you need it right then and there or if your mobility gets impaired.
