CPO Sig 229
I have the opportunity to purchase a CPO Sig 229. The present owner has had it for a while but advises that he has not put a box of Ammo (50) rnds. through it since he got it. It is a 357 Sig just like my duty weapon was before my retirement. I have my Glock 26 for concealed carry, and a Sig 230 stainless so this would be mainly a range gun and one to keep at home. I may get a 40 cal barrel and a 9mm conversion barrel if I bring it home. Comes in Sig box with two 10 rnd mags. He's asking $550.00. What do you guy's think?
I like having one larger caliber gun at home, my other alternative is maybe a RIA 1911.
Thanks in advance
Mike

I have one in 9mm and it has been very reliable and super accurate for me. I shoot it better than most handguns I have tried. I now use it with CT laser for my nightstand gun. Price seems resonable and you are obviously used to shooting it. I say do it.

I'd be bummed about the Clinton mags. New Sig mags are ~$40 after tax and good luck finding them in stock anywhere.

I have two CPO 229s, they were both indistinguishable from new guns as near as I could tell. That sounds like a good price and CPOs seem to be somewhat hard to find, the 10 rd mags are a bit of downer but you are only giving up two rounds.

I have several P229's, two of which were indistinguishable from new, as CPO pistols. Excellent. You won't be disappointed with it.

Sounds like a great deal! The 229 is a fine pistol, and the 357 Sig round I love. I have a Glock 33, and it is more accurate (or I can just shoot it better) than my G-19. If you don't take that deal I am sure a lot of us on here will.

I picked up a CPO, from my LGS, in .40, 2 12rds mags, for $625.00 OTD and I can't tell the difference from a new one, good luck finding more mags.

Picked up the CPO P229 357 sig from it's original purchaser. So it's a second hand CPO. He said he only put 35 round through it and I believe him very clean, 2nd 12 rnd mag was never opened, still rapped. Put about 30 rounds through it and functioned perfectly. I would post a picture but it looks just like a new one so I'm a happy camper. So now after retirement from the USSS I've got one of my duty guns (minus the night sites). I'm a happy camper. Now if I can find a S&W Model 19 in 2". Icarred that one for over 20 years. I wish they would have let us buy them back.
