Ah, the good old days. I remember buying 500 round bricks of .22 on sale for $8.99.

I feel bad for those who are left in the cold right now with little/no ammo during all this craziness.

Realistically, it's going to take 6+ months for things to settle down.

I recommend to everyone to have a minimum of 1 year's worth of ammo on hand based on your annual usage.

I remember those days also. And the rounds were nicely divided into handy little 50 round boxes instead of loose in the bigger box. Seemed a bit easier to grab a hundred rounds for walking around plinking.

The standard velocity is better. Clear plastic 100 round containers or the 50 round paper/cardboard that come as 10 boxes/500 round brick?

I sold a local shooter close to 2000 rounds yesterday. Was tempted, but I didn't gouge him. Charged close to what I paid for it. I have a ton left and felt sorry for him.

It is about as bad as it can get here in New York. While some of the new regs on selling ammo do not kick In until next year, small mom and pops ( not that there were ma y) that ammo won't be selling it anymore, I suspect wal mart in ny will pull it, leaving only crappy chain store like dicks sporting goods And gun shops left to sell it. I frequent what may be the biggest gun shop in ny and was there yesterday. Normally they have pallets of various ammo in the open floor space to include case lots of everything including 22's. now they have open floor space and most ammo shelves were empty. They had so little 22 left they were selling by the box only- no full bricks.
They had gouge prices on 223 and 308 - 90 cents a round. Only odd ball calibers left.
We're talking about a shop where I have been in the back room in the past and there was about 30 pallet loads of ammo

I never panic bought ammo . I reload my centerfire . My wife used to ask me why I always bought a box or two cci's when she dragged me off to the Wally World. Don't you have enough of that stuff yet ? How could you ever shoot that much ? She understands now !!! BTW I don't sell it , but I sure looked like a good guy when I went up to my Bro-in-laws last week and they were totally out .22 and his buddy's farm was over run with nutters. Man what a fun day .... Not for the squirrels though .

I'm not saying you made a bad deal, there is little ammo to be had most anywhere, I'm simply saying whoever sold it to you was scalping. And yes, historically, the 7 cents/rd of .22LR is much higher than 30 cents for 9mm which is only $15/box of 50. Not very long ago, Walmart's price for 550 rds of .22LR was $19.97.

Any store offering $15 a box of 50 for 9mm will be sold out within two hours of opening. Don

$0.07 per round is a fair price for CCI Standard Velocity. This isn't your typical bulk pack fodder. It's very good ammo. $7-$8/100 rounds was a decent price on it months ago, even. It's cost generally runs about the same as the Mini Mags.

Because it's cheap to hoard and a popular round. But around here it's all being hoarded, there isn't even any .30-30 or .44mag at Academy, .30-06 .300WM, and waterfowl shot shells are all that's left.

I stopped by by local Walmart today and picked up a couple of Boxes of Winchester 22lr 36 grain HP's 555 rounds per box I have shot it in the past and its ok ammo, also picked up some 9mm ( Federal 115 Grain FMj As we know its all in the timing ,

Man, I work at a range a few times a month, and the last day I worked was the first since all this crap has gone down and I was literally scared to be on the line. We had to have 3 guys out there helping people who had no clue what they were doing.
