NCGA Proposed Legislation

For all my NC gun owner friends, there are a few proposed bills in the NC General Assembly that need our input. All but one of these is favorable for gun owners. I'll outline below. Please contact your State Representative or State Senator and let them know your opinion. I'll post more as they come through.

SB17 -
We DON'T want this to happen. Basically it says if you have an out of state non-resident permit, you can't carry in NC if you are a resident here, essentially forcing people to get an NC permit.

SB27 -
A bill to allow a new position called School Safety Marshal to be armed on school grounds.

SB28 -
Remember the newspaper in NY that published all the names and addresses of the registered gun owners there? This bill makes it so the database of concealed handgun permit holders will NOT be available via the Freedom Of Information Act. Law enforcement would still maintain access.

HOUSE Bills;

HB17 -
Allows for carry in a restaurant where alcohol is consumed. We've tried to get this passed every year for as many as I have been here in NC. It needs a BIG push.

HB49 -
This one is to prevent employers or other private businesses from barring someone from keeping a gun in there car while on their property. This is mostly an issue with employers telling their employees that they cannot have a gun in the car in their parking lot. Florida passed a law like this a few years ago.
