Not an intuitive item. I had a humidifier plugged into my bedroom. I noticed some discoloration on the outlet plug. I wasn't worried, but went ahead and flipped off the circuit breaker and popped off the cover. The outlet had melted inside, and the connector was glowing red hot inside. So, basically, we narrowly avoided a fire that would have started in my master bedroom, with us sleeping there. I've since used this to put every outlet in the house under load and checked for heat. I looked into thermal imagers, but those are expensive to even rent. This is accurate to record the temp of a grill top and many other surfaces you probably don't want to touch test.

It's a fun toy, and maybe a lifesaver. I'm not saying you need one, but if you have disposable cash around, think about it.
I am glad you caught the issue before it became a tragedy, Doc. My sister's house burned down a couple of weeks ago for a similar issue. Although the family got out safe, all their stuff was destroyed.

Lancer 'AR15' magazines. 30 round, smoke/translucent, in stock at Spikes for $22

http://www.spikestactical.com/new/z/...ke-p-1027.html

These are very good magazines. I haven't used any myself (though I did just order some of these), but the guys on M4C regard them highly, often claiming they are superior to PMAGs and second-to-none for the AR platform.

Check out Emergency Essentials at beprepared.com for a nice deal on a Katadyne Pocket ($269), we each have these in our GHB's and they are really well made.

Also they have 8 superpails (6 gallons) in a package that are 2 rice, 2 white wheat, 2 red wheat and 2 rolled oats for $315.

There shipping max is $12 and when you buy a lot from them they ship it by private carrier on a pallet (really freaks out the wife), all that fun for 12 bucks!

$7.99....... not as scary or tacticool looking, but probably better due to the weight.

Any of these would be better.

I agree with you, but......

I think a hatchet is something I will use and use a lot. Gerber is worth the extra money.

1. Some people are looking for light weight, for hiking, backpacking, etc.
2. Who cares what color it is? Why is that such a big deal?
3. I was unaware that Harbor Freight anything was considered by anyone as a superior option.
4. How about we post deals, and let people decide for themselves, rather than taking the seagull approach (fly in, crap all over it, and fly off)?
5. Would you prefer I stop posting deals I find? Because this is certainly not how you encourage people to post in this thread.

I guess you're right. I'm being a party-pooper. My bad.

On a brighter note, I may have saved someone $78.00 on a case of canned bacon above. The word "tactical" tends to cost money. I overstated the point.

No, because this time, not happy with my own response, so removed it. I think I need to apologize also.
