Winchester SXP Defender
I am thinking about picking up a new shotgun, and have been looking at the Winchester SXP defender. The only thing that has been keeping me from buying one is the lack of after market parts. I am specifically looking to put a light and side saddle on the shotgun.
I recently found that Tacstar is making a side saddle for the winchester SX3, and I was wondering if anyone knew if this would fit on the SXP.

The SX3 is an auto-loader so I doubt the pins are in the same location. The SXP is basically a modernized Win 1300 and is a clone to the FNH P12. I have been playing with these a bunch lately and just did a class for a department that switched from the 870s to the SXPs. They were very happy with the choice.
Lights on the mag tube are simple. Integrated into the fore end, a little tougher. I used a CTC Railmaster 202 (white light) on a tube mounted pic rail and it has been working so far. There will be more aftermarket stuff for them soon.

I heard side saddles for a win 1300 are pretty close, but not an exact match, do you have any experience with a side saddle for a FNH P12 on an SXP

Sorry I don't. The group I was working with used the new Blade-Tech mini TMMS with the Carbon Arms TWinS in 8 packs which snap on their duty belt.

i saw there website say its tapped for scope bases now. Would it obstruct a bead if mounted or would it be low pro enough? Id want to mount a microdot of some kind and want a backup if it fails, ive been mostly looking at shotguns with ghost ring rails.

Barry, What light is that you have? Is that the L&M mount? I have the L&M on my gun, and it is slick.

My wife gave me an SXP Defender for Christmas. So far I love it. Added an Uncle Mikes 5 shot shell holder to the butt stock and a cheap Cree 200 lumen flashlight using a Nebo clamp. Light works great and the clamp seems to hold so far.
Been thinking about a sling but not sure about that...is a sling apt to get hung on a door handle or something else around the house at a critical time...don't know. Haven't given up the thought.

I looked at the SXP today at Academy. balances well, very light, don't know about the 5 round capacity, but overall looked good for $300. I have Mossberg 500's but would like to see the SXP in action.
