It's my 'last man standing build' as I used my:
last Essex frame, discontinued
last 7790314 TZ slide, discontinued in the early 50s and now insanely priced on Ebay!
last EGW wide-spur hammer, sadly discontinued

There are two used components, a Colt MK IV barrel and an old Springfield Armory trigger. Other than a EB slide release and the grips the rest of the parts & mags are new Colt Series 70. I like to use Hogue aluminum grips as I tend to shoot mostly Tula and my own reloads. I've see shattered wooden grips from a case failure and don't want to take the chance. I'd realized this pistol went over 1000 rounds as I opened the 3rd 450 round tin of Tula for it the other day.

The parts cost $650 or so, the ammo so far another $300

One of my current favorites is a colt ww1 repro I recently picked up- it looks so pretty I can't bring myself to swap out the long trigger
