Just got back from range, off with the Lasermax

Just got back from the range. Went through 150 rounds with my G26. Everything went great except for the lasermax laser. I do not know why but I can never seem to hit the bullseye with a laser. I have had the CT on my G17 and the lasermax on my G26. Soon as I turned it off was right on target with my Glock factory night sights. It is odd to me . I just figured I would be better with the laser but I am not. I am worse. Just some food for thought.

Could it be your laser isn't sighted properly?

That's because lasers suck. They may help you get on target a little faster, but they aren't going to make you shoot better. That is fundamentals, grip and trigger control.

How are the groups with the laser vs those with the irons?

I have a Crimson Trace on my G17 and could not be more happy with it. I have it sited in at 15 yards and it's spot on. Red dot is replaced with a hole when I pull the trigger.

I still acquire a proper sight picture through the iron sights, even with the laser on, to give me a better shot. The laser is then just cutting off a split second or two on target acquisition.

I have a guide rod lasermax that came with the G27 I bought used. My rounds hit about 3 inches lower than my point of aim but perfectly center, unfortunately they are not adjustable. The intent of a laser is to get on target as quickly as possible and I can do that all day long. For me the laser cost about $30 if you figure in the value of my gun and how much I paid for it, so 3" is not a big deal, but if I paid the $300 for a new laser then yes I would be bit unsatisfied and would send it back if that is an option.

Lasers aren't for bullseye shooting, they are for self-defense.

Try shooting from retention with your night sights. Lasers are to get your shots on a human sized target, not to be bullseye shooting sights.

If you put big dot sights on your carry gun, you won't be shooting sub-MOA groups, either, but in a real situation you'll have more hits than with target sights.

If the point of your G26 is to punch holes in paper, then get rid of the laser. If it is to save your life, think twice about what the laser is really there for.

I'll be happy to take the Lasermax off your hands for free. I'll even pay shipping!

Your laser beam is probably off and needs to be adjusted a little. You either zero the laser at your desired self defense distance, or you zero it parallel with the bore axis.

Note that no gun laser will bring you right on the target/bullseye at any target distance due to the bullet drop. This doesn't play much of a role on pistols because pistols are used for short range shooting with almost no bullet drop. So I would just zero it parallel with the bore axis.

Here is a little graph that shows the bullet drop/trajectory of my rifle which I have zeroed in at 25 yards. A 25 yard zero means that I will hit the bullseye at 25 yards and then again at ~ 280 yards. But I am a little off between 25 yards and 280 yards, if I don't compensate for it. It all depends on what distance I want to shoot at.

The problem with lasers on handguns is that they show your "shake", and make you jerk the trigger before you are totally "on-target".
