Glock 17L
How often does glock make a run of the 17L model. I have seen them and I would like to own one if they ever made more. I have not seen them for sale only a couple of times and they are sold very quickly. I need to add to my collection and this model may be my next one.

I believe I was told they did a run every other year of 17L and 24s, but I could be wrong. With their current backlog I wouldn't be surprised if they push it back an extra year or two until they're caught up on the "standard" models.

I was told about every two years by a Glock stocking dealer. I know they're backlogged so that may vary.
I'd suggest you go to your LGS and just let it be known that you want one. Sometimes they can find a distributor that has one in stock.
Here's mine.

As I am sure you know there is not a huge difference between the 34 and 17L. If you are in a rush try one of those, not that they are much easier to find right now... Both good shooters though.

The last run was 7-11-11 on my test fire date, 7-12-11 on my G24. Not sure how often but I have been looking for one for 3 years before that.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but you can NOT buy the 17L and/or the 24 with a GSSF coupon. They are not listed on the GSSF Pistol Purchase Program Price List.
When I bought my 17L and 24 in 2011, at the local LE Dealer, I even quizzed them about it but no go!
This info is premised on you referring to a 17L per the OP title.

Do you know if you can pay an extra fee and then use the coupon? I know someone that got a G34 and had to pay an extra fee. I can't recall how much.

I'd thought of that too until I saw the prices being asked.
Lowest price I could find was $900 and the highest was $1450 here-

The 17L retails for $620-$650, so the prices being asked are just plain crazy.

You may be able to bid on one and snag it for less.
This one has only one bid and is at $601.23 w/ no reserve and less than 24 hours left.

I have the 17 and thought of just buying the longer barrel and going with that instead of paying the crazy prices.

That doesn't keeping you from making a reasonable bid on it.

That one sold for $820... you can always sit tight and wait for a deal closer to retail. Or pick up a 34 if you have any intentions of shooting IDPA.

I got a long slide G24 in 2009, so it looks like they come about every 2 years.

With the GLOCK 17L (and likewise the 24), your best bet is to buy used. Trying to find one new is going to be hard since they aren't in regular production. While the prices right now are high for everything, with some patience you can find a great deal still. I noticed that you are in Central Florida (as am I). I used Florida Gun Trader for a lot of my firearms. It's like a Craig's List for guns in Florida; there is no bidding, only posts that you have to contact the seller with. I have sold many guns through this website and I've bought a few guns. Just recently picked up a GLOCK 22 Gen4 for a good price after looking around for a few weeks. You need to have patience for sure, but it's worth it if you can save a few hundred. Be sure to always use a bill of sale (available for print at the website) and only buy/sell from Florida residents.
All of this talk just reminds me how much I want a GLOCK 24 Gen4 to complement my .40 GLOCKs; hopefully once GLOCK has the chance to catch up on production they will consider updating the 17L and 24 to the Gen4 models.
