I recall reading something a while back (can't remember whether it was an interview or congressional testimony) where the director of the National Reconnaissance Office, who was up for the (I think) Director of National Intelligence, stated that it was his opinion that Iraq's WMDs were on those trucks, and were hidden in the Bekaa Valley.

Assad won his WMDs from John McCain in an online poker game.

The democrats claim those were imaginary and CNN is willing to confess to faking the reports, if it helps keep people from seeing Bush was right.

No doubt, but they won't be declasssified as long as a democrat can prevent it.

Syria has had chemical weapons for a long time. Any from Iraq just added to Assad's arsenal.

Correct. They also just aren't that hard to make.

The answer? Why, the West, of course:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-0...hemicals-syria

I'm sure it was an accident. An isolated incident. Maybe the NSA was too busy investigating American suburbanites for googling pressure cookers and somehow missed this. On accident, of course.

It's amazing the number of people that don't understand that many chemicals can have beneficial and benign uses, and also be used to make bad things too.

You can make poison gas with stuff you can buy at your local grocery store. You can make explosives out of stuff you can buy at farming supply stores. Scary but true.

Yup -- and "dual use" certainly doesn't apply just to chemicals.

Pressure sensors from washing machines and navigation systems for cars can be adapted to military use. Also, I'm aware of at least one agency that used the link-up of a host of Playstation 3s to create a set-up with the computing power of a minicomputer at a fraction of the cost of the real McCoy.

I've seen washing machine timers used to launch rockets on a 1 hour delay. I've seen cell phones and car alarms used as IED detonators. I've seen an AK47 built from a shovel.
Political Issues

Any kid with a high school chemistry class and access to the internet can turn normal household and farming chemicals into bad stuff. I wouldn't go searching for that stuff unless you want to be on a list somewhere.

Conspiracy theorists tend to see nefarious motivations everywhere. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not.

Indeed -- I did just enough surfing to find a news piece related to dual-use products...Didn't feel the need to delve any further than that.
