Snare traps and wire sizes.

Hey guys. I just got into setting snares recently and I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas regarding materials to use for game snares. I've been using 16/2 gauge wire and stripping it down to 8 strands and twisting it. It's hard to keep a small loop in it after a while. What do you folks use for your snare traps? I'm pretty much looking to bag small game here and there, rabbits and the such.

O.k. maybe I'll trick my wife into one as a gag in a couple of days. ;f But I could use some help with other peoples experience in this area. Thanks in advance.
