That would explain why I stayed wet my whole first year...

Congrat's on earning your stripes. You earned it.
I will never forget that drill...it sucked that's for sure. We got it for our right to carry OC on the SWAT team.
Our instructor Damian loved it....
" Okay you ready?"...."on the count of three"..."and you better not close your eyes, or your getting it again"
"One"... "keep those eyes open"
"two...swooosh"...and then the blackout amdjfj
All I could hear is Damian laughing...it's rather unpleasant experience.

The sting was like 200 degree sand being ground into your open eyes. Trying to obtain some sort of visual orientation was nearly impossible.

Later that night, I got into the shower and when the water hit my face it re-constituted the OC to a point and tried to get it going.

There's a reason I call that stuff "Satan's Piss in a Can", lol. I've been hit twice with it, and that was ENOUGH, thank you! Not a FF, but a fed CO, btw.

Here's a pic from a recent extrication. No fatalities, just a broken leg to the front seat passenger. Passenger was seatbelted, with airbag deployment. It's hard to believe someone was cramped in that seat....and still talking.

Ten minute response time due to distance and wet weather. Jacksonville has approx 50 engines, but covers 840 square miles of area and nearly 1 million people. Getcha some of them budget cuts!
