Americans and Canadians: How and why we differ on guns
...as unbelievable as it seems from a Canadian perspective, American politicians are not simply ignoring the will of the people and cowering in the face of the mighty National Rifle Association in refusing to heed calls for tougher gun-control laws. They’re also listening to their constituents. Americans, by and large, simply do not want tighter gun controls.

"I’m not afraid to live in a country that is steadily loosening, not tightening, gun-control laws."
Me neither & let's hope it stays that way!

Funny thing about Canada. An American tourist, who takes the time to fill out the right paperwork, can carry a handgun in Canada for up to 60 days. A Canadian citizen can not.

Canada chose to remain under the British thumb, while Americans didn't. The 2nd was put into place to make sure we would never be in that position again.

But unfortunately we are going down that road once again.

From Wikipedia, if I understand it correctly

Users must possess a license, called a "possession and acquisition license (PAL)". A firearms safety course must be passed prior to applying for a PAL. A non-resident (i.e., non-Canadian) can have a "non-resident firearms declaration" confirmed by a customs officer, which provides for a temporary 60-day authorization to have a firearm in Canada.[6] There are three categories of firearms for purposes of Canadian law: non-restricted, restricted, and prohibited. Restricted and prohibited weapons may actually be owned and used in limited circumstances.[7]

This may not extend to carrying concealed, but apparently it's much easier to still have your gun in Canada as a visiting American than it is to actually be a Canadian.
