I just picked up a Hi Power Mark 3, and I can't get it reassembled. I had no problem taking it apart so I could clean it. I got the spring and barrel on without a problem. I put the slide on, pull it all the way back with the safety to secure it where I put the retaining pin in. The pin goes in, and it goes through to the other side but it doesn't lock in.

No matter how much pressure I use, I can't push the pin in any more so it locks in. When I shift the slide a bit, the pin will fall out.

Does anyone have any ideas?

turn the recoil spring guide around, the round part goes out, you will see all of the recoil spring even with the barrel.

I did try turning that recoil spring fully around, and each time the pin goes through but doesn't won't lock all the way in place. I am thinking there is something I am going with the other side of the pin, the part that is suppose to keep the slide open.

if you release the slide the slide release should stay in place, do you have any pics ?
edit: to assemble you have to engage the thumb safety in the forward one in the slide, put the slide release in and then release the slide.

I finally got it in. I did put the thumb safety up, but after putting the pin in as much as I could, I never racked the slide even further back. Once I moved the slide all the way back with the pin partially in, the pin then moved into place. Gun is fully assembled, and ready to go.
