You could have taken a small screwdriver and switched the sight in less time than your first post took.

Well, a nut driver actually (or a small set of needle nose pliers). Small screwdriver or pick would have been the tool for a gen1/2.

And yes, you're correct, it could have been corrected in less time than the first post took. But being the OPs first Glock, I can see the hesitation.

Well I got a new G27 from a large internet store and it did not have the white dot on the front site. Can't figure how that got by Glock. I called Glock thinking they could just send me a new dot and I would just glue it in the hole but they must have been out of white dots because they sent me a new front site.
