Cool gun but a dumb choice for an issue side arm. Still, it cant be any worse than the 92F.

"There were three candidates that made the final round of consideration," but Clark would not discuss the competitors.

Anybody know who the other three candidates were?

Looks like one was the Springfield Operator. Smith and Wesson and Kimber may have also been candidate(s) at one point.

I wonder what the Marines that are going to carry them think.

That sounds right. I can't find it now, but I read somewhere that it was down to the Colt, a Springfield Operator and one of the S&W 1911's.

The Marines know more about combat than all of us armchair commanders put together. I defer to their expertise based on nose-to-nose, kill-or-be-killed, real life experience over decades of fighting. These .45s are not retail, high-production assembly line, three test round QC inspection pistols like we buy at our LGS. If nothing else, the 1911 makes a dandy club when the bullets run out!

I like 1911s. I'm in the market for a new one, in fact. That said I think a G21 would make more sense as a .45 duty pistol. They're pretty hard to break.

US military is in love with antiques lately. Flying in antique airplanes and helicopters, using obsolete rifle and now remake of an antique handgun.

Problems after 12k rounds... That would take a while on the Marines operating budget. It's not like the m2 where we can go to the range and blow through 1k rounds in a few hours. And not all Marines carry a pistol anyway, when I was in you had to be a nco or co.

Don't bet on it!

Colt's probably already scrounging up all the previously rejected parts so they can refinish them and start building the Marines their new pistol.

I don't care what we pay for them or what they use as long as the Marines using them hit what the aim at and come home alive. If they want the 1911 so be it.

Why is this in Political Issues?

Only one allegation of someone being a Communist has been thrown out. I won't stand for it!

I love my XSE. Hopefully they won't be using Colt magazines.
