Good evening, all.

I am considering picking up a Glock 23 and am looking at kydex for my carry rig. I like Crossbreeds, but am thinking of picking up a Raven.

Does anyone edc with the Raven? If so, how functional and comfortable do you find it?

I have 3 of them…paired with the right belt they are great. Holds tight to the body and makes conceal carry easy with an OWB holster. I do suggest the pancake belt loops they offer…holds even tighter to the body.

I got the Raven Vangaurd 2 in November right after I got my 23/gen4 and love it. It is very comfortable, very minimal! And easy on and off. It you have issues with the Vangaurd, the phl skeleton is another iWb. It uses one strap like the raven, which I like. It shows less on the belt, less bulk than iWb with 2belt loops and allows for some cant if you want it. This link is a very good comparison of the two. I wear both a lot now, with my 23 and new 27/4. Phl wins points for easy draw and reholstering.

I carry my G23 in a Raven Phantom. Can not say enough good things about it. Fast production. LEO discount, comfortable for all day carry.

I just ordered a mag carrier and the pancake wings. I like how it holds to my body, but i figured I would give the pancakes a try as well.

OWB is so much more comfortable in my opinion, and the Phantom is, for me, the best holster for OWB.

Raven's are expensive and take a while to get, but I understand they're excellent. I EDC in a Crown Holster. Just like the Ravens, but much cheaper with a ridiculously faster turn around time (one week). crownholsters.com

As an OWB holster, the Phantom by Raven Concealment is excellent.
As an IWB holster, the Phantom by Raven Concealment is poor.

So how "good" the holster is, depends on how you intend to use it.

I have (3) raven owb holsters and I ccw daily. I do suggest the "wings" option which holds the holster even closer.

Bravo concealment holsters closely resemble raven holsters and are slightly lower in price. I own (2) bravo's that are basically "backup's" to my Ravens.

I have got to go along with "dosei". I think the Raven is great for OWB at the range or for carry under a coat.
How ever they are too wide for me as IWB.
For both my 26 and 19, I have recently found a superb holster for IWB. Great workmanship and speedy delivery.

I wear one under (2) tshirts on a daily basis. I wear a underarmor type wicking shirt and a regular tshirt over that... no problems. The first shirt softens the outline so that the second conceals it well. Using the wings option on the holster allows for it to fit snugly against the body.

I have a Raven for my G23, but carry mostly in Glock's Sport/Combat holster. Give 'em a look! Two sizes will carry any Glock, and maybe $15 at various online dealers. Cheers.

Goodd evening, all. Thank you so much for the replies, I truly appreciate it. The primary use would be OWB, but IWB from time to time. That's the method that has me worried about the Raven, and judging from a couple of the responses it seems it will be a less than stellar choice.

I received my RC Phantom three days ago and have worn it non-stop since. Most comfortable OWB holster I have ever worn. I forget my G27 is even on my hip. Also, the quality is better than any kydex holster I have seen. I cannot recommend RC enough.

RCS make's great gear and i've owned more than a few pieces of kydex from them. I'd recommend you take a serious look at JM Custom and Dark Star Gear as well. Two of the best with shorter lead times.

I carry my G23 in a RCS Phantom-- the standard holsters are available in the "quick ship" option, so wait time really is not that bad. I have yet to really wear mine in IWB configuration, I have set it up as such and tried it in the house but I just don't care for IWB carry. The Phantom will do, though. If you are going to wear OWB most of the time with occasional IWB the Phantom will fill the bill; otherwise, you might want to get an IWB specific holster for greater comfort. IMHO the RCS Phantom cannot be beat in OWB carry. I also agree with the above posters who recommended the "pancake wings" option-- get them. And a good gun/pistol belt; a good gun belt makes a HUGE difference.

I use one for my HK45 and I couldn't be happier with it. They have a long wait time but they are well worth it. Get one. You won't be disappointed!
