I did a session of xfit once and it was a good workout. My only gripe against xfit is the price. I cant imagine paying that much money to workout. Im naturally self motivated, so it would be a waste. Plus, I like being able to pick and choose what I do each day. Sometimes it might be a lifting day and i feel like running, so I go run. I like having the versatility of choosing my own workouts.

I don't go to a crossfit gym, I work with a guy that has a membership, and then on the weekends we come in early and do various workouts. I go to a normal gym during the week, and run and all that other stuff as well.
Kinda best of all worlds.

I trained at an MMA gym for years that was attached to a Crossfit gym. My best advice would be to know your limits and stick to them. I can honestly say that many people I know that do Crossfit eventually end up getting injured FROM Crossfit; have you noticed many knee braces since you've been there, haha? Less injuries at the MMA gym, oddly enough.

What I don't like about Cro$$fit is that it seems you have to work out on their schedule as part of a class. The exercises aren't so technical that they require expert coaching. Even the olympic lifts they use are one with such light weight that technique won't matter much. And then there is the cost. $70 a month and up? I guess trendy people will willingly pay it.

Ya, but unfortunately crossfit coaches tend to like to have their people try maxes on stupid crap like thrusters. They don't take the time to teach them how to do a front squat or an overhead press/push-press, but they have them try heavy thrusters. And I've seen more round back reps of deadlifts during crossfit than anywhere else. And they like to do them for timed reps, so they jerk arouna dn yank on their poor spines under load.

Also, if they keep their members limited to training under a coach in a group environment, it keeps them from learning on their own and limits their knowledge, ensuring continuing Kool-Aid consumption.

I've watched them before and was quite impressed.
Those guys have a great blend of strength and endurance.
