Anyone carry a Sig 226

if so, how does it carry? I am thinking of putting my Glock 19 up for trade for a Sig 226 but need to know if its practical for concealed carry or is it too bulky? I currently carry the Glock 19 or a Sig Scorpion.

I sometimes carry my p226 and I don't find it too bulky(I normally carry an xdm 3.8 .40 or an xd45) I am 5'9 and around 136. I don't carry it more often because I don't have night-sights on it and I don't have an extra mag carrier for it.

A little too bulky for me in the warmer months. In the cooler months when I'm wearing a sweatshirt no problems.

I can carry my P226 IWB with no problem, I'm 6'3", 265. The only gun I don't carry IWB is my 1911 and only because all my 1911 holsters are OWB.

I carry a 229 daily, which is close in size and weight, a good belt for IWB and my Remora holster are the ticket for me. I love it. The 226 is a bit fatter if you get the Hogues on it though. I would slap some G10 grips on her and you'd be good to go.

I carry my P226R IWB. But, I'm kind of big, too. 6'3" and about 240. I understand somebody who is 5'7" and 135 pounds might not like it as much.

I have successfully carried a P226 but there are smaller pistols that may be a bit easier to carry. I think an even swap of a G19 for P226 would be a realy good deal for the guy on the P226 recieving end presuming decent condition.

It is not a premier option for concealed carry simply due to its bulk. I have recently started carrying one though in a Galco Concealed Carry open top holster (CON248B) and find it works well. I have other guns {Glock 19, Smith 908) that carry easier and that I can conceal better but the SIG P226R is a nice gun and I still enjoy carrying it.

The P226 is a great gun, but its a big heavy gun for CCW in light clothing. I carry one as a duty gun, but I usually carry my P239 off duty.

In cool weather with a good cover garment and belt it can be done comfortably. Its not happening under a t-shirt or polo.

I suppose one could concealed carry a P226 if one tried really hard and was prepared to be uncomfortable while doing so. But the question is- why? Why would you want to haul that boat anchor around and try to hide it when there are so many other options out there that will do basically the same thing, and do so much more easily? Unless a P226 was the only gun you had. Honestly, my 226 is about the last handgun I'd try to carry concealed. Open carry, no sweat. It was designed for military use, to be carried in an duty holster.

after looking at the sigs on their website, i was wrong about the 226 for carry as alot of you pointed out. It is too big. I also think they are a little to pricey for me right now so i will look at other options to replace the G19. but I am open to suggestions as to what some of you carry? I may go back to just the .45 even though it cost more since i can find it alot easier than i can the 9mm

I carried a P226 for awhile.......

It was huge and heavy.

No comparison between a G19 and a P226 for carrying.

Tough to find deals online or MSRP on anything these days. I found my 229 at Cabela's of all places for $799, which was a good deal for a P229R E2 model with night sights. I cruised through there this week and the .40 model, same otherwise was at $949 already.

If I had my druthers, I'd grab a M11-A1, but am considering a smaller summer carry option such as the P239. I can conceal my 229 easily with shorts and a polo, but I am no metro dude so I can hide it.

Basically, because in a gunfight, based on all my years of shooting, using, and carrying pistols, the P226 is the one I want in my hand.

Great iconic pistol for sure, but its too big and bulky for me to conceal comfortably.

My P226-9 is a great shooter and is my favorite handgun. I tried to carry it for a while but found it to be just too heavy and bulky. I now carry my PM9 year around and the 226 is strictly for home defense and fun shooting.

I carried my P226 once for about 8 hours. That was enough to tell me it was not ideal for me...too bulky.

I carry a 229 in .40, which is close in size and weight, I'm 6'0' 170 lb.

I carried mine for a week in a UBG holster.

GREAT gun, great feeling of confidence with it strapped on, but just a little bulky for me.
The 239 in .40 is my walking around Sig at this time.
