Surefire flashlight fore end and some other ?'s

I'm almost done with getting my Rem 870 to where I want it to be... Are there any options to the surefire fore end? I've seen the new magpul one but I don't like the look of it. I think Surefire used to have a picitanny rail fore end but I can't find it on their sight anymore, I thought this rail would be best for me with a flashlight and (if I could) possibly a pressure switch that rested on my Mesa Tactical pistol grip or I can train around having to activate a flashlight without the pressure switch.

Also I'd like to get a nice sling for my shotgun. Something that's the equivalent to 3 or 2 point slings on AR's. Can someone help me with this?

Also I heard that the Rem 870 express' have a tendency to rust easy... Is this true?

If you want it done right splurge for the Surefire, mine has been great.

And yes the 870's will develop surface rust pretty quickly. I wipe my down every week and the cloth is brown when I am done.

1. If you're running the gun professionally, spend the money on the Surefire integrated model.

Surefire made the M73 I think it was, railed for-end. Ergo and a few others make them as well.

The Magpul does the same, cheaper and lighter from what I've seen. Looks are irrelevant, if it's MagPul, it works.

Yes, the Express models do rust easily. A Sentry Solutions Tuf-Cloth, wiped down once a month or so (assuming regular use) will cure the rust issue, on 870s and any other weapon. It bonds with the metal and you should have no further issues. I first used one after finding out the 870 Express rust issue myself, and have used them ever since on every other weapon. Helped fix a rust issue on my M4 due to the humidity when deployed (130F outside, 70F inside A/C'd buildings, going back and forth led to condensation, plus external humidity).

I would imagine the surefire forend is one of the best options. I am cheap and on my 870 I bought a small clamp on rail for the mag tube extension and then mounted a tlr1 streamlight because I liked my first one so much on my glocks. Total cost around 120$ and it can be taken off in seconds and moved to your railed pistol or anything picatinny like an ar. I believe they sell a pressure switch conversion for them if you need that but I just reach my fingers forward a bit to manipulate it.

I might have already lost the rust battle... Noticed a couple tarnished spots. I've had it for a year, shoot it once a month and clean it about every 3 range trips. Do the Mossbergs do any better with rust?

the Mossbergs will be a little better as the receiver is aluminum, so it won't rust. The barrel and other parts will though.

The best 870 shotgun configuration is an 870P with a Surefire fore-end and a Speedfeed stock.

IMHO the surefire is way overpriced. I have a g2 in a mod-c mount and it does everything I need it to. As far as rust, I had mine dura coated don't have to worry about rust ever again!

There isn't anything that Surefire makes that isn't over priced. With that said, they have the best that money can buy and they know it. Just look at their prices!

haha very true, that's why i usually opt for their G2's, $50 is a lot easier to swallow and haven't had one problem w/ the one on my 870 or duty rifle
