As you know, I'm ignorant on the subject.

I was looking around after the fact to do some price research on the lens I got, and stumbled across this:

Is this something that would work well for me? What applications can I use it for?

As far as the macro conversion goes, with the zoom of the lens, does that mean I can just get even closer with the macro filter on?

To be honest, no. Most teleconverters do not work well, they will turn a good lens into a shabby one. Buy a good used lens on EBay.

Yes and no. Good glass close up filters can do a good job, extension tubes (no glass) work great and I have 1.4x and 1.7x Nikon teleconverters that are razor sharp. The 2.0x blows, even the Nikon.

That said, a $75 "kit" isn't going to cut it. Take a pass on that. Spend the beans on a real macro or tele lens.
