Michigan Small Game
Well folks, it's time for the small game season to open up here in Michigan and I'm stuck at home nursing a nasty sinus infection. Let me know what you guy got so I can sit back and be jealous.
Regards,
Glen

Trapfan-10 Bushytails-0
Took this weekend up at cabin and busted 10 critters. With my Ruger 10-22 Target and a 4X16 scope it was a field day in the woods. Walked in sat down in the hard woods and in about 90 mins. had my limit. They will taste great this deer season with gravy and cornbread. Seems to be a good year for food mast as deer and bushytails were all over. Can not wait for November 15th hurry up deer season.

Hope that are are all healed up and ready to go by next season Trapfan. With all the stuff happening in my life right now I'm yet to get out in the woods. That will change next Friday though, I'll be seeking Bambi out high in the trees with my 686 .357 magnum.
Is anyone going to try and get out right on opening day?
Cheers,
Glen

As you can see I'm quite anxious. Yes, I mean next month. At least I'll have a bit more time to scout out some more places to try.
Regards,
Glen

Ah, okay 45acp4me... you had me pretty excited there for a second or two. I thought something had gotten by me!
"opening day" on firearm season is on a Friday this year as you guys, more then likely, already know. I've had that day scheduled off since the beginning of this year! I'll be in the woods for sure.

Firearm Deer Hunt 2002
Thanks for the get well replys. I am geting worked up about the firearm opener. This year I will be at my cabin from Nov.14th till Nov.30th good Lord willing. Was blessed to get two doe tags for my area so I will try to be in the woods a little longer this year. Hope all of our seasons are safe and produce lots of table fare. Good luck to all of you and have a great season.

I've been tramping around in the St. Ignace-Moran area and and got three center hits on xmas trees. No birds. Another week or so and the leaves will be down. Get into the young popple stands and bust thru the brush along the Brevort river.
Spent a week and a-half at the cabin getting things ready for full-blown bird and rifle deer hunting. Saw a lot of hawks and traces of coyotes and some bobcat crap. A bear has been poking around but the dogs keep it away. I know where it is hanging out in a heavy patch of swamp and just stay away from that area. Haven't seen any rabbits. Well, "coyotes and bobcats"! Plus lots of hawks!

{The only problem is I dont know what to do wih rabbit after it is dead. I think I know how to clean them,}
Go online and a do a search for field dressing a rabbit. You will find alot of ideas and methods.Get a sharp knife, latex gloves, a couple of big bowl, and cutting board or counter. It's pretty easy to do. The first rabbit is always the hardest to learn on, but after you do 1 or 2 , the next ones are very easy and you should beable to dress out a small cottontail in under 15-20min.
For me roasted rabbit over a medium fire with water soak hickory chips is great. You can chop the rabbit parts up and make a stew or go to you're local book store and check out the book titled
"America Favorite Wild Games receipes"
I'm sure you can find alot of good methods for preparing Rabbit.

Hey, hey Michigun - don't let WalterGA troll you in. He is still miffed over being thrown out of the big Tiddley-Wink contest for cheating. Seems he was playing one of our heros from the Great State of Michigan and it was determined that Walt had cheated. Pretty hard to cheat at tiddley-winks eh? Seems Walt had "winked" a "tiddley", that had one of our tiddleys covering it! It was a scandal! The only thing saving him from world-wide bronxcheering, was that the East German swim team had been found to have nitrogen gas injected into their bungholes for extra bouyancy! This of course, took the headlines away from the tiddley-wink scandal. But, there are those of us who remember!
I mean, a man who would cheat at the Rangoon Tiddley-Wink Olympic Games, and is now offering coarse comments on our pure sport frolics?
