Campus Carry

My wife may be attending a retreat on the campus of Johnson Bible College in May. I know THe Great State of Tennesee honors Indiana handgun licenses but are there restrictions on campus carry?
Thanks

Yes you can not carry on the grounds of any School.

There are exceptions which may apply in your case.

39-17-1310(4) says you can carry if you are dropping off or picking up passengers as long as you remove or use or allow the removal or use of the weapon.

39-17-1309(c)(1) the second half of which says....

"It is not an offense under this subsection (c) for a nonstudent adult to possess a firearm, if the firearm is contained within a private vehicle operated by the adult and is not handled by the adult, or by any other person acting with the expressed or implied consent of the adult, while the vehicle is on school property."

There is not complete agreement on what 39-17-1309(c)(1) means when you look at all of 39-17-1309 on all the gun boards I am on.

I believe the law applies to all "schools" Public and Private and all grade levels, including colleges.

At least nothing I see in it says it applies only to public schools.

You can not posses a firearm on your person on ANY school property public or private in the state of TN. You can leave it in your car if it is not visible and is not touched by anyone while dropping off or picking up someone or at a school function. So when you go down to Johnson leave your gun in your car and don't say anything about it. You can't carry your CCW into any place that serves alcohol by the drink in TN or any court house or federal building or state park or any place that has posted on the entrance no guns allow.
