I was going for a softer eye and a sharper nose, considering the crazy narrow DoF on the lens (Canon 60/f2.8 macro). I've got a few where the eye is razor sharp, but with everything else fore/aft out of focus, there's no pop like there is with the nose bridge in this one. In hindsight I should have used my 18-50/f4.5-5.6 and stepped it down.

The only thing wrong with that bottom pic is I'm not in the chair with Marylin on my lap. Does she like laps?

Hmmm, I would think the eye would pop. But then again, I like looking into cats eyes.

I agree - I just had to make a decision with a crazy narrow DoF lens. I'll go for an eye next time around and we can see how it goes.

And finally, a crop of just her eye. This one shows some softness... (All taken handheld, Canon EOS7D with 100mm f/2.8L macro lens, ISO 200)

Are you saying his cat eats so much he needs his dinner to be belt fed to him?

That cat would probably love your lap as long as you remember to pet her.

Okay you photogs, let's see some whisker pics. I have a female mongrel tuxedo kitty - she's sporting whisker bling like I've never seen on a house cat. I haven't decided how to compose an interesting shot, but it's on this weekend's list of cat annoyance projects.

I'll try to work on that this w/e. The Peanut (Fat Cat's 'sister') sports a nice set of whiskers.
