Want to start a Westside Glock Shooting Club?

I'm not sure if topic has been brought up.. but I am from West LA and was looking for other like-minded people to go shooting with. I have an annual pass to the LAX Range on Manchester and was wondering if anyone else shot there too.

You might get more on the bandwagon by using WestCoast instead of WestSide..Sounds too thugish and no respectable gun owner wants to be associated with that..Good luck.

I'm in the Oceanside area. I don't get many chances to go shooting, particularly in LA, but would be interested in congregating at times.

Westside is actually a term used to describe the location of Los Angeles you are from and in no means insinuates any type of "thuggish" sub-meaning you are suggesting. Westcoast? Meaning the entire Pacific Coastline?

No one refers to any particular area in Los Angeles as Westcoast. If someone says they are from the Westside of Los Angeles people immediately know they are from the Santa Monica/Venice area. Same if someone said Eastside- people would know they are located in and around the Downtown area. Southside, or Southbay-- Torrance, etc.

I stand corrected..

Wish we could get a club in Nor. Cal. Please make it west coast and then a Northern Chapter. Thanks.

TBH- that's a good point. We should get that started. I am still a beginner when it comes to firearms and shooting (just bought my Glock22 3 days ago on Saturday...) and would like to start a shooting club in and around our area. I'm not quite sure how to reach out to all the folks though.

I would be interested, but traveling all the way to L.A. would become cumbersome since I'm in the southside of Fontana. Have you been to the outdoor range in the Azuza mountains? It's north of the 210 off Azuza or Citrus. That place is great especially if you get a private range.

I've never been out there to shoot, though I'd imagine it would be fun as hell to shoot outdoors. I've never done it...

When i went it was $20 a head. Maybe it's cheaper during the week? They have two separate ranges, one for handguns, .22 long rifles, and shotguns. The other side is for the big boys. They also have private ranges that I believe cost $60 for 3 people and $15/person after that.

They do half hour shooting sessions then a ten minute line break. That's when you get a chance to set new targets. During the line break your gun must have no ammo in it and the slide must be open and they inspect every gun from each person to make sure b4 you're allowed to walk out on to the range.

Can you shoot from different distances? Are there lanes, or is it open? Any regs about holstered weapons while firing is in progress? Thanks for the info.

I saw several people with holsters, but during the line break you must leave the pistol on the bench to display it's unloaded. The handgun range is actually long and you can set your targets up as far or as close as you want since you actually have to walk out there and set up your targets. The firing line is covered overhead, except for the area for shooting clay. And there are no established lanes, it's completely open. Although common decency dictates that you only shoot straight ahead and not at an angle to interfere with someone elses targets.

Thanks for the info. That's a bit far away for me though. All the money I'd save on cheaper range fees would be doubled in gas to and fro.
