as titled, I need to number the lines (sentences) in a Word 2003 document that I have created. I don't need to number every single line, only chunks here and there.

I found the function in file/page setup/layout/line numbers but when I highlight a block of text and try to number it, Word inserts all sorts of funky page breaks. When I try to manually delete the page breaks, the line numbering goes away.
