songs that hit a nerve.
when i was young back in the 80's we loved listening to this song cos it mentioned 2 things that were very important to us. cars and girls. by prefab sprouts.
during that time i wasnt very familiar w/ the lyrics cos most of the time when we were listening to it "good smoke" was being passed around, we just liked the sound of it and the fact that it mentioned... cars and girls.
on a rainy afternoon, after watching clips of the original miami vice in youtube, i thought i wanna listen to that song again. i was being nostalgic. i wanted to feel young and carefree again. so i searched it and luckily their MTV to that song was on youtube. i also researched the lyrics.
and whaddya know. it meant more to me now at this time in my life than it did then.
im speechless.

As for me, well I subscribe to DZMB's "soundtrack of your life" theme, that is, I listen to songs for the happy memories. But a song that's really striking, for me, it's Graham Gouldman's "Love's Not For Me" from the soundtrack of the cartoon movie "Animalympics". I can't link YouTube as our office filter blocks it.
When I do get YouTube, I also like to listen to the love theme from the movie "Jewel of the Nile". Sweet and haunting.
I'll try to post the links once I get hold of an unrestricted computer.

music has that power diba? its like a time machine. whenever you hear old music you always go back in time. when that song became a hit. memories flood back. you feel the way you felt back then. its rejuvenating. pang pa bata nga!

My iPod's full of 80s music. But then again I also have Glenn Miller, Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby in it... my parents were kids then!

ako kahit hindi 80's music ok din. i just paint a picture in my mind of what this country was like back then. 50's kahit 60's. sarap siguro dati sa pilipinas nun. konti palang tao. tawag sa roxas blvd nun dewey. edsa was h'way 54. things moved slower back then. marami american cars. beetles. elvis. tayo pa ata ang toast of asia back then. tsarap.
pinaka masarap siguro yung konti palang tao and the slower pace of life.

He he akalain mo ba madami din pala dito ang New wave babies . High school na ko noon and stating to explore the "Outside World" and it brings back memories of that era.

Static-X songs: Grind to Halt, and Lunatic. I am big into playing guitar and these songs remind me of what kind of music is expected out of rock nowadays.
