I can understand the pistols not being offered for sale outside of the FBI. Does the SA who purchases one of these pistols agree not to sell it?

JR - It is perfectly legal for an agent to sell it, but federal agencies are much more scrupulous than state agencies, and state agencies can be pretty scrupulous. In other words, while it is perfectly legal for an agent to sell their commemorative pistol, it is probably highly frowned upon within the agency. "Highly frowned upon" has a lot of bad career connotations in a federal or state agency...

Arent LEO's federal included exempt from the list anyway? So why would they need it on the list?

I have no idea; that's why I said "I'm guessing..." Weirdly-worded laws abound, but to my brain, since this is not a dept-owned weapon, it is a privately-owned weapon, and as such, common sense would dictate that it would have to be "legal" on this list... Again, operative words are: "guessing" and "common sense" in relation to the wording of a law. Both of those are pretty big leaps of faith/assumptions.
You'd know much better than I, since you live in CA. As an aside, and saying this as an LEO, I find it illogical and complex to exempt LEOs from certain laws, because gaining or losing employment is not that slow or difficult of a process, depending on the circumstances. So, one minute you're legal, the next minute, you're not. That makes no sense to me... Laws should apply equally to everyone.

In spite of the fact that the only modification to the standard Glock 22 on this FBI 100-year commemorative gun is the addition of the engraving on the right side of the slide, it had to be approved for sale as an entirely new gun by California DOJ. Perhaps serving agents are able to get their weapons directly from Glock, but I doubt it. In any event, retired agents such as myself have to take delivery through a FFL gun dealer, just like anyone else. And for the FFL in my state to handle it, it has to be on the Cal DOJ list. This was part of the reason for the lapse of almost one year since I ordered and paid for the gun.
Regarding the question of resale, all of us who purchased one signed an agreement not to resell it, except to immediate family members, and I expect most will honor that commitment. However, I do not believe there is any LEGAL impediment to its resale, and I expect that as time goes on family members won't feel similarly constrained to hold on to mom or dad's "treasures". So I suppose some of these pieces will come on the market eventually. But not too many, I think.
Went and saw my FFL today, and so I am now in the 10-day waiting period. Just like anyone else.

Very nice piece. I got one as well, and it took me almost 15 months to get it from Glock.
This commemorative Glock 22 is essentially the same FBI service Glock including the high capacity magazines. The only two features that differed from the FBI service Glock 22 were the regular slide release (vs. the extended release for FBI Glocks) and the regular Glock sights (vs. Trijicon nite sights for FBI Glocks).
Price was outstanding. Only a bit over $400. There was a limit of one Glock for agents orders. I would have ordered ten if there was no limit. The laser ingraving was very well done. I like to find out who did the laser engraving for these commemorative FBI Glocks. May be I will have my personal G22 engraved.
