I know the captured recoil spring is now a lot stronger than the original non captured spring. Do you think with time the spring may weeken enough for the slide to lock back again???
I notice that the notch on the slide for the stop to catch is minicule compared to my 2nd gen G19 and 2.5 gen G26.
Do you think it would be advisable to file the notch larger???
I know it would cut into the tenifer.
Interesting. After my G17 KB'd, Glock replaced the frame, but not the slide. Mine wouldn't lock back after the last shot either, so I sent the slide in. Got it back and it still won't lock back. Chris Edwards from Glock even verified this at a GSSF match.

NTF shows that it was made in March of 1984. Thanks!

Now, when did you buy it? And did you buy it when it was new?

My file shows that the prefix BZ as dated to November of 1988.

Does the barrel have a date code on it? (three small letters to the far right of the serial number.....if Nov/88 is accurate, I'll guess the date code would show CTT or maybe VTT)

Mine is not that old I guess, CP39@US 12/87. It's a rebuilt G17 that I got in Oct of 1996. Shoots great.

Mine is AU 0XX, picked it up on GB not long ago. It has not been shot much at all. The Barrel markings are STH (at least that is what it looks like) my eyes are not what they used to be. Still has the black parts, keeping it that way. Talked to Glock customer service, and he said it was one of the first 9000 batch imported in 1986.

I am keeping in the tupperware box, but put some patches down between the plastic and slide, where they tend to mark the slide. patches with a little oil should help.

Here are a few pics.

Excellent!

STH shows it was made in May of 1986 and it appears to have been imported in July of 86.

Butch, other than the info in the serial/generation thread, do you know much about the numbers of how many were imported in 1986? Were any imported in 1985? The Glock customer service guy told me my AU 0xx was in the first 9000 batch imported to the US. Does that sound right? bbt.marc's ABxxx serial looks to be the oldest so far? bbt.marc does not live in the US and appears to have a gun that was Austrian Army issue?

Yeah! A little more anyway....

Yup! There were five G17's bearing the prefix 'AN' imported in 1985, they were used for submission to the BATF and as sales samples.

Yes it does, AU was the ninth of 18 prefixes imported in 1986, each prefix would have 1000 G17's bearing the prefix, the numbers would be 000 through 999.

Indeed, I do believe it is! Strangely, the date code on the AA guns shows the date of October 84. AA's were imported to the US in October of 86 - AF (date code date of July-84) being the first ones imported for sales in Jan-86......no, I can't explain why.

Could be? But, I think the first Austrian Army guns were marked 'P80':

My earliest G-17 is a 2nd Gen KV***US series, but can we start a lowest numbered G-19 next as I have a 2nd Gen G-19, BX***US that has to be an earlier import.
