Need help again

I deleted some desktop icons like an idiot. Is there anyway to get them back? I tried a system restore, no joy. Any ideas? Thanks

Sorry, not enough info. I was using a windows xp os and deleted the stuff I wanted and kept the crap I didn't.

What were the icons?.. were they just shortcuts to open programs, or what?.. If they were just to open programs, are those programs in the start menu?

What's the OS?

If it's Windows cant you just find the target file and just do a another shortcut to them? Aren't desktop icons basically just shortcuts to something else?

I somehow deleted the Safari icon off my Mac OS X launch thing, I just went to the apps menu, made a copy and dragged it back to the launch, voila.

Goto start>programs>whatever program you want an icon for> right click> send to> Desktop (create shortcut)

Boom, you are back in business.

That should work, but he's not really made it clear if he just accidentally deleted the icons (after reading his edit, I think thats the case).... or did he actually delete the program folders.

If its just the icons, just follow the above advice.

Don't you love the way people ask for advice then just never finalize with "thanks for the help, it worked" (or not), etc? Seems I see that quite often.

OH thank you SO much Mr. jlprtr, You were so helpful. What was it you suggested? Oh that's right, NOTHING. Other people do have lives to live. Sorry it didn't fit your schedule, I do better in the future Mr. MAN. What an Adam Henry.

So here is the update, being of limited intelligence, I didn't really understand the directions above, so I kept messing with it and must have hit the right number of keyys in the just right order and got it restored. So thanks jlprtr, for all your valuable help.
