Wasr metal mag

Bought a wasr and it is sweet. Shot it today and it's awesome. I can not find the maker of the metal mag that came with it. Any one have any insight on this?

Oh and here's a picture just to keep you interested. The Kalashnikov Klub

It's probably a Romanian mag.

In my experience, any metal mag from a former Commie country will work well.

It's your first post! Welcome!

There are probably 100 different types of steel AK mags. If you post some pics of it, focusing on any stamps/marks, I can probably help you ID your mag. This might help too from the resources posts...

I've never had a problem with European surplus mags for my WASR.

Asian magazines have been an issue. I've got some Chinese and (new) Korean magazines that have been issues. I've just ended up trading them for European ones.

I, on the other hand, like the Chinese mags, along with mags made by any country that actually issued AKs. That's why I don't care for the current crop of "new" Korean mags. You've got to remember, they are made in South Korea, not North Korea. I wish I could get my hands on at least one N. Korean mag...very rare.

are you talking about the WASR 10? or WASR3?
for the WASR3 the best mags are the german made wegner.

The OP's pic shows his WASR wearing a 7.62x39 mag, but I agree, the Wieger mags are excellent for the 5.56 WASRs. They're getting a little pricey now, unfortunately.

well those 556 mags also work in the Chinese type 84s? the Promag mags, believe it or not, work great!

Those dont look like metal mags in the photo.. if they are, I have never seen one in person. I prefer chinese smooth back mags with chrome follower.

so you prefer polytec mags....you have extravagant tastes! :-) lol

I have a dozen or so Norinco mags that I really don't use very often because they are so hard to find now. they are most definitely the best though!

I only have a few polytech mags ( 3 witness holes). Most of my china mags with chrome followers are not marked at all and only have 1 witness hole.

Thanks for the responses I'll get pictures later of metal mag. Did not even realize I had the tapco is when I took picture. My buddy had the npap and liked the metal mag that came with mine for tighter in his ak. Really only reason we were trying to figure it out.

It is a wasr 10

And I've been lurking around here for a long long time

Wasr

If your metal mags rattle in your WASR, ask CarlosC how to fix the problem. I did his quick epoxy fix on mine years ago and all mags fit tight now. I like the Bulgarian mags and all metal commie mags.

It's been YEARS and thousands of rounds since I did the fix on mine and it's still going strong. Glad to hear it's still working for others.
