Canon stops the megapixel war

Shocking news from Canon - the new G11 has a sensor 5Mp smaller than the previous version. Consider me excited. This madness had to stop at some point.

Also, the swivel LCD has returned.

If I did not have a G7....
which is more than I need in most cases and certainly gets used much more than my Nikon DSLR with exotic lenses.

I'm glad to see the return of the Swivel screen. I loved it on my A95 P-n-S. The very nature of a point and shoot is that it can be used where a SLR may have limitations. I often foundmysel holding the A95 up high and tilting the screen back down at me.

The MP war was to get people to look at the camera. I think the high end point and shoot crowd is educated enough to know that MP is not everything.
