Convictions check v CCW permit

A security officer has to have a "Convictions Check" [$5] each time he or she gets a new job. If a person has a CCW isn't that the same thing?

Same background check, but the CHP check is only done when you renew. It's possible you could get convicted of something and the court misses that you have a CHP and they don't take it away.
