NIB G19 from 1989!

I posted this in GG a while ago, but as its delivery date approaches I thought it would be more appropriate in this forum.

I should be able to pick it up from my FFL the end of this week. I'll post more pics when I get my paws on it. I got a hold of Glock while I was in GA for training, and got a re-build kit as well as some other extra parts.

It's going to be a shooter not a museum piece, so I also have a Milt Sparks SSII holster on the way and have picked up a few new mags for it. I'm still looking for OEM steel replacement sights for it. I want to keep it original looking and have never trusted the polymer sights as I've had a few jettison on me over the years.

Original post:

Thanks to member bentbiker for the heads-up on this one. A shop in Juneau, AK had it on GB as NIB old stock from another dealer. Just been sitting up there for 21 years waiting for me.

I won't be able to take delivery of it until August, since I'm heading to FLETC for training for the next 3 weeks. Once it arrives, I'll be calling Glock for the 1992 upgrade parts, replacing the recoil assembly with a captured OEM, and heading to the range.

Still got mine!

I bought a new G19 and a new G23 about that time and still shoot them. They've been my carry gun all those years. The only thing I did was put on a Hogue slip-on sleeve. Enjoy!

Nope, this one was born in November. In Nov. '89 I was stationed in West Germany just 30 clicks from the Czech border. That's the month the wall fell. Amazing time to be in that part of the world.

Hopefully I can pick it up from my FFL tomorrow. Schedule hasn't allowed up until this point and it's killing me.

Do a Google search for 'Glock 1992 Upgrade'. Glock did a product upgrade to beef up the safety features. Any Glock Armorer can get the parts for free, or you can send it directly to Glock for the free upgrade.

Yours looks like it has a 3-letter SN prefix, so it might be post '92. Check out this thread to find out your born-on date:

Wow. Back in February I too picked up an as new HSxxx G19. That should be about November 1989. Mine looks as though it was never fired outside of the factory. So far, I haven't shot it yet either, and don't really plan to. I thought about calling Glock and ordering the upgrade parts, but at this point, why bother I guess. Like I said, Im not really planning on shooting it either.

I've got about 200rds through it so far. Flawless! After doing the '92 upgrade to it, the only other thing I changed is the sights and the recoil assembly. I went with the Glock metal night sights. I'm quite impressed with them, especially the new threaded front sight. You used to need a special staking tool for the Glock metal sights, but the new ones are threaded with a robust screw that goes all the way through. I'm using a OEM captured recoil assembly.

Here's some pics:

I took a pic of the original non-captured guide rod assembly for reference. I haven't seen too many pics of those here. I bought a new batch of mags and left the originals in the box. The Glock rep said that 20+ year old NFML mags may crack at the indicator holes.

Anyone know what the CTD on the barrel stands for? It's not part of the SN.

I believe its some sort of date code, although I'm not quite sure myself. My HSxxx has the code of "VTD."
