How are the CMMG bargain bin AR's???
So I'm thinking of picking up one or two of the bargain bin ar's from CMMG. Hows the quality on these? I know you get what you pay for but I'm wondering if they use a 5.56 chamber. I've got a spare BCM bolt and bolt carrier, SSA trigger and complete Magpul furniture set laying around that I could upgrade this ar with. I'll probably end up giving it to my father as he likes my Noveske so much. He doesnt shoot alot and I thought an AR like this with the above upgrades would be good for him. Let me know how you like your bargain bin CMMG...

Mine's been great. I got the 18" chrome lined, rifle length, but I'm sure the 16' are just as good.
Yes, it's 5.56.

Since you haven't gotten a lot of responses, I'll fill in what everyone on here usually says about them.
They are awesome!
They are terrible!
The owner is a lying bum!
Buy a good rifle instead!
Mine had a bent sight!
They are only assemblers, not manufacturers!
Best rifle ever!
Goes bang every time!

Well thanks for the replies everyone. I think with the upgrades I mentioned in my first post, that this will work out fine for my father. He doesn't get to the range alot and he's not going to be taking any carbine classes with it.

I've handled about 15 of the bargain bin guns for transfer.
Most have been ok. The parts used on them is a mix of parts, including the internal parts kits. The furniture is lowest priced stuff they can get.
I had one rifle that seemed to use a commercial buffer tube with a mil spec stock that was hammered on and would not move at all. It should not have left the shop like that.
none of my customers had any bad reports on them, so I guess they all functioned. I wouldn't expect to get high end parts in any of them.

Ya know, now that I've been doing some figuring, I can build a better rifle for a couple hundred more using a BCM upper. So I'll not be buying a bargain bin rifle now. Thanks again for the input everyone.
