Ot: Gsg5

My friend bought a new GSG5 and dressed it up using accessories meant for the airsoft MP5. We tried it out last Saturday in Bulacan. We were using the Armscor .22 LR subsonic rounds at first and there were several failures, probably because the round was too weak to effectively cycle the weapon. When we used the CCI standard velocity lead rounds, the weapon had no more failures. Target was an IPSC board at 15 meters more or less. All our shots from a standing position was inside the alpha zone (the groupings could have been better) using the iron sights (the red dot meant for airsoft couldn't maintain zero). Anyway, it was a fun gun. Hardly any recoil at all.

Perhaps the Armscor standard velocity or Hi-vel 22LRs would work better in your friend's GSG-5.

Could you give us an idea of the size of the groups at 15meters using the GSG-5?

Thanks!

The Armscor Hi-vel was not available in the shooting range in Bulacan. I think though that the Armscor Hi-vel would work better in the GSG5. I use it for the Marlin 795 and I only had one stovepipe in 1000 rds (probably operator error - a novice shooter was shooting it at the time). The groups at 15 meters was sbout 6 to 7 inches. Probably operator related.

A friend of mine has the GSG5 and it operated without a flaw. He used Winchester power point ammunition, which are hi velocity.

My GSG-5 functioned without flow, but you need to use High Velocity 22LR ammo to cycle the action properly for GSG-5.
