New GT Fundraiser Sweepstakes Launching

Update 10-30-09: See The Last Message, New Grand Prize!

Hi folks. After a three-year hiatus, we are launching a new fundraiser sweepstakes here at GT. We discontinued the fundraisers when we launched the paid membership tier, but the paid membership system's income, coupled with ad revenue, has not kept pace with the increased cost of running the site. We have given it a lot of thought and have decided to reinstitute our periodic fundraiser efforts.

We are kicking off this effort with some great prizes, but as with previous fundraisers, the prize list will grow rapidly, in the coming days and weeks. We are starting out with two custom AR-15's, 2 Scottsdale Gun Club custom Glocks, 3 new stock Glock pistols, and 7 GT tenth Anniversary Commemorative knives. As I said, new prizes will be added and we will keep everyone update with info on the additions.

As the site continues to grow, the cost of operation increases as well. We have gotten so large that we can no longer rely on volunteers alone to handle the workload. We are hoping this fundraising effort will help us keep the site in the black for a while. I want you all to know that we really appreciate your participation here and your support of the site. We are also currently in discussion with several other companies on what could be some substantial new contributions to the fundraiser. Folks, we are very excited to announce a new grand prize. Actually, we are about 99% finished negotiating a grand prize that we will hopefully be able to announce next week, but this one takes the top spot for now:

We now have an AR-5.7 rifle, built on a Six Sigma lower (With the GT logo machined on the side) and an AR57 upper. This is an upper that shoots the FN 5.7mm X 28mm cartridge that the FN 5-7 pistol shoots. The rifle accepts 30 or 50-round PS-90 magazines, which lay across the top of the receiver. The weapon ejects spent casings out the AR lower's mag well. I have been around guns long enough to get pretty jaded and not much new excites me anymore, but I fell in love with this rifle when I saw it. I love the idea of having 50 rounds of ammo in a package this compact and streamlined, but with the AR's traditional layout. This is one neat gun.

All components of this rifle are new. It comes with the complete rifle, an FN 30-round magazine (50-round magazines are available online), an Aimpoint AP CompM2 optics and a case of FN 5.7mm X 28mm ammunition. This package has a retail value of over $2,800!

I'll post some pictures below. They aqren't great pics, but we will get some better ones posted in a few days. We are going to go put a few rounds through it Saturday, 10-24-09, to function-test it. We will post a report on it when we get back.

We are proud to announce a new grand prize for the fundraiser. Tactical Rifles, http://www.tacticalrifles.net/ , has committed to provide one of their M-40 bolt-action rifles. We will provide a picture of a similar rifle below, but we don't know if our rifle will look exactly the same. The rifle will come with a scope, but we aren't sure what type yet. We will also be adding a Harris Bipod to this prize. We are not sure yet what the total value of this prize is, but it is substantially higher than the the grand prize it is replacing.

We are adding optics to the Addax AR-15’s. We are still working out the details, but at this point Tactical Defense Solutions will be providing optics for the 2 rifles.

We have several great prizes to announce this week that will push us well past the 25,000.00 in prizes mark.
