One watch...

If you could own only one watch, what would it be?

Here's my dream watch:

I don't know if I could narrow it down to just one. I'll hafta think on that for a bit.

Omega Planet Ocean with the rubber strap.

I currently have an Omega Seamaster Quartz along with several G-Shocks, but if I could have any one watch it would be the Planet Ocean.

Owned a Rolex Submariner in the past, and looked to buy one again, but I like the Planet Ocean's dial size better nowadays.

I told the wife that the Planet Ocean would be a great 25 year anniversary present.(this July )

Rolex GMT Master

It what's been on my wrist for 27 years. It doesn't come off. Its been thru no cabin pressure at 37,000 feet, below the water many feet, and on my wrist when I had to eject many years ago.

Doesn't keep perfect time but then then I don't have to worry about replacing a battery when I'm in 10 buck 2.

I still have the original box and receipt.

As a man of simple tastes, if I could have only one watch it would be a Sinn U2.

Am I the only snob here who dreams of a $100,000 plus watch with a tourbillon movement? Come on guys, this isn't a what are you wearing or what you own thread...This is what your DREAM watch is. Let's get creative here.

To me these are 2 different questions. If I could only have one watch, that implies that I would have to wear it all the time. I am not going snorkeling wearing and IWC Grand Complication. For only one watch, I stand by my choice of Sinn U2.

AS for a dream watch, I still have simple taste, I'd choose a GO SPort Evolution.

ROLEX DAYTONA OYSTER PERPETUAL COSMOGRAPH MENS WATCH in stainless for everday wear.

I currently have a 12 year old Rolex GMT II (coke) that I wear everyday. Like a previous poster stated, it doesn't keep perfect time but I don't have to worry about batteries......ever.

Well I got it, my one watch.

An Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 45mm on rubber strap. (All black face)
Sold my Seamaster Quartz and several G Shocks to offset some of the cost, and now I'm good to go!

Will probably get some additional straps for it down the road, don't know if I really want the bracelet, time will tell.

I got it-Omega Seamaster GMT which I was able to get at 50% off from a BBB that was closing in TX.

To date I have never seen another one "in the wild" (unlike Rolex Subs which are everywhere, real and otherwise along with the multitude of "homages".. but I digress...)

If not the Omega, I would want a Stainless Rolex Air King with the Rose Gold Face

At the risk of being imodest, if you are going to spend $1000+ on a watch, it needs of a brand that every the non watch guy recognizes as top tier i.e. Omega or Rolex.

Watch #2 and beyond can be more interesting horologically speaking i.e. Panari, Ball, Sinn, Fortis, Oris etc. YMMV.

For me I don't care if anyone recognizes the brand. I perfer brands that no one else wears. I buy watches to impress no one but me. Recently I statred to unload my Panerais because they are starting to become more mainstream. I am really into U-Boats right now and I got my third one this past January. My advice is to get what you like and who cares what others think. The point of this thread was to see if you had unlimited funds to see what you would get. If I asked the same questions about guns, I'm sure I would have gotten a better response. My tastes have changed since the start and I think I would choose a different brand if I had the cash.

Misunderstood the question... unlimited cash: Patek Phillipe or something literally handmade by some 6th gen watch maker out of Switz/Germ. or the JLC Reverso

If one watch is all you can own I'd have to go with a Casio G-shock. You can wear it when you're working on the car or hunting or diving. Its pretty much indestructable. Now if you could own two watches, thats a different story.
