Benelli M3

Does anyone here own a Benelli M3? I saw one for sale and am seriously considering buying it.

I couldnt afford a benelli so I got me a Mossberg 930 SPX. For me $700 was hard enough to part with let alone $1500 for a Benelli. Someday maybe?

I have an M3 and really like it. It's only a few ounces heavier than an M1 and, in semi, runs great, even with crappy promotional loads. The pump action is the sweetest I've used. With the addition of extended controls, Comfortech stock (custom fitting work required), and the rare & expensive

26" hunting barrel, it's very versatile. Not sure if I'd have done it if I knew I was going to be given a Mossberg 500 for free, which became the HD shotgun. Probably would have bought a more sporting-focused 12 gauge. The intent was one gun to do it all, and it does so pretty well. I paid $1100 for mine and have spent another $600 or so for the additional stuff. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

Lee, I have shorter arms and need a short LOP. Is the reach for the pump forearm really long? Can the LOP on this be shortened or do they sell a Benelli short stock that would work?

The reach isn't any worse than other pumps. The stock can be shortened. The Mossberg in the pictures has a 12" LOP Hogue stock and the M3's is 13 1/2" by using a thinner Comfortech pad. Standard is 14 3/8". If you have REALLY short arms, a semiauto or pump that has a forend which wraps around the receiver might be easier to manage. I can put a tape to it over the weekend and post the measurements...

Do they make a factory or aftermarket short stock for the M3 so I wouldn't have to cut it? Would a short stock for a M1 work too (if they make one)?

Try bell & carlson stocks. I have one on my field M1. They might be the same ( justa guess ) and then you could see if they over various fits.

On my M3 it's 24.125" from butt to back edge of forend in semiauto mode and 23.75" in pump mode.

i recently obtained a Benelli M1 Super 90, replacing the one that got away.... that being said, i don't own a M3 but like the idea of it's versatility. there's nothing like a one stop shop or a shotgun that does it all, but we usually pay more for the convenience. i have no place in telling you to buy or not to buy the M3, as i have never owned one. good luck with your plight and enjoy....
