Got a Larue off set mont for my Primary Arms T1

I liked my Aimpoint T1 set up on my Noveske with the Larue offset mount much better than the Daniel Defense off set mount I have used on my GAP precision rifle and on my DDM4 with my Primary Arms Aimpoint clones. So I went and bought a Larue mount for the clones. The Primary Arms sight fit the Larue mount just fine. I am still waiting for the primary optic to arrive for this rifle. It is a Nightforce 2.5-10 x32 with a low velocity reticle.

I did not clean the lens before taking the pic. I should have sorry about that.

Get out of my brain. I did the same thing this week.

I am testing this setup. If I like it, I will sight in the Primary Arms RD for the 22LR conversion and get an Aimpoint/Larue for 5.56.

So you can use a red dot in conjunction with a higher powered optic in the conventional position. This is how my patrol rifle is set up.

The advantage being you can easily and quickly change from a magnified optic to a red dot for CQB with the tilt of the rifle. Much faster than fliping a magnifier down or turning a variable power scope up or down.

Does the offset mount make zeroing to point of aim harder, as in, takes more than the usual clicks on the windage/elevation knobs?

Yes a touch you have to think of elevation and windage in an x pattering instead of up and down.

Do you by any chance have comparison pics of the LaRue and DD mounts? I like the idea for a future SPR type setup.

The sniper rifle a few post up has the DD mount. The noveske and the Larue in the first pic have the larue mount. I can photo them side by side it you like.
The problem with the DD mount is the position is not quite right and you have to push your head down harder into the stock as you cant the rifle to make it work. The Larue mount puts the optic in the perfect position.

thanks for the info and pics. I've been thinking of doing something like this for a while and now I just might. Just one ? is it any slower to acquire on the side like that as say opposed to the normal top position.

Not really harder. When I have my rifle in the low ready its usually somewhat to the side any. (so you can stake up) if you practice bring the gun straight up from this position its very fast. Here is some videos of me shooting my Noveske with the side mounted T1 aimpoint.

At least for me, yes I am slower.
The position is a little different, and I have a heavy scope hanging on the rifle.
I think I will get better with time.

Your low is not nearly as low as I was doing.
I was doing, pointing at the ground in front of me and no pre-check.

Additionally, it is odd on the off side. Once I hold it in place, I can do it again, but that first shot...

There are also other options/ways to skin the same cat. I prefer less offset from the vertical, thus less turning of the rifle. In my opinion, this setup is very fast and accurate for up close work.

I run my hunting rig similar to the picture above. With the red dot close to the scope and just barely offset to right, it is darn fast to transition from scope to red dot. The 10x super sniper scope is a really good distance scope, but much too slow acquiring targets up close. The offset reddot scope and mount fixed that. I seriously considered that mt. but didn't think it would work for my left side. So how does it work from the left side?

Problem with the set up in your quote is you have to raise your head and break cheek weld. The Larue mount makes it so you just slightly turn the rifle. Which is a better and faster system to use in my opinion.
